SpunkyS, thank you for the kind words. I plan to hug my wife and don't care if it is before she uses the commode. It gives me another opportunity to tell her how much I love her and to give her my strength

Hi SpunkyS, I have two more 21 day cycles to get through. The first day I receive Taxol through my chest port, this takes between three and four hours because of the pre meds then the Taxol. The next day I receive hydration and pre meds through my chest port then Cisplatin through my abdominal port which was put in during my debulking surgery. These are long days taking 7 to 8 hours. While the Cisplatin is going in I also turn from side to side and do a yoga childs' pose to help coat the abdominal cavity. THe hydration of course is eliminated from the body that day and next thus I am in a private room with its own bathroom. The Cisplatin takes several days to be absorbed from the abdomen and eliminated through the kidneys and bladder. On the ninth day of the cycle I receive Taxol through the abdominal port. Hope this kills all the no see ums!

Thanks you made me smile ... my husband use to hate to hear people say how good he looked but now that we are further down this journey he finds it nice to hear people tell him he looks good. The doctor told him the other day to please try this one last chemo drug or he would have to put him in hospice care....he said, "your insides are a big mess but you look too good on the outside to give up." It was what made him change his mind and try the drug :)

    Hi SpunkyS-
Thanks for responding to my profile. I have Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer. My first Chemo was March 12th. I am not having surgery, but i am having Chemo to shrink the tumor and then possibly surgery.

Did you go through a stage of denial? I am following the "How to Survive the Loss of a Love" philosophy. We all go through the 5 stages of loss at one time or another.

    Let's keep in touch.

Pleased to meet you as well. No I haven't been on chemo since my diagnosis. I was in remission for about 6 months before it came back. It came back stronger too.

There are certain herbs and foods which alleviate joint aches although talking to your doc about them would be good because you are on a very powerful protocol. I know a little about herbs but nothing about Avastin.

Alfalfa sprouts will help fight the inflammation which usually causes joint aches. Pineapple, if you can manage it, contains bromelain which also counteracts inflammation. Papaya, which may be easier to eat, contains a similar enzyme. Ginger is always helpful and stinging nettle tea is an anti arthritic.

    Hoping you feel better soon.
