Almost 3 years with hormone blocker and decided to take a 2 week break from anastrozole to see if bone/joint pain makes any difference. Osteoporosis is the biggest problem as it has advanced some in just a year. Update, after 2 weeks, there was no significant change in side effects (seems I have most of them under control). Since the advancement may be age related more than that "pill" and Prolia has been added to help, I've decided to continue with the hormone blocker. The scale is really about probable cancer return vs osteoporosis. Guess it's a no-brainer for the moment in time.

Have you tried Fosamax (Alendronate Sodium)? I took them once weekly for a couple of years, combined with increasing activity and calcium supplements (dairy allergies). I believe that I have improved from "porosis" to "penia", as mine was steroid-related and I have almost tapered off of Prednisone. will probably have a dexa scan in the next month or so and we will see how I am doing.

Po18guy, it is pretty amazing how much extra activity can help with the bone health. I mean, so many would think you need to be careful and avoid things- but I find the more I increase my activity- the better I feel.

I have been fortunate that the Anastrazole has not taken as big a toll on me as it does on some. Either that, or I don't know what aches and pains are medicine related and which are age related.

My grandmother did take Fosamax and she found it quite effective, as were calcium supplements.
