Chronic Mylemonocytic Leukemia (CMML) is also
Known as “Smoldering Leukemia”. In early diagnosis like mine Stage CMML-0 the recommended treatment is to “Watch and Wait” by monitoring blood levels (monocytes and counts) ever 3 mos. signs of change guide biopsies and treatment be it BMB, transfusion, chemo or Transplant. Stages go from 0 to CMML-2 and typically then advances to AML and death. It’s a worrisome road. For me this was discovered by my internist who saw a history of unusually high monocytes and urged further investigation and testing just prior to surgery for Cervical Cancer.
