Hi! I'm from Suffolk, too. My oncologist is from VA Oncology Associates in Norfolk, but I got most of my blood tests done in Suffolk.0

Oh really wow small world do you get chemo or anything in Suffolk? What kind of cancer do you have?0

Hi, Schatzi1962 and purfekt10
We’re doing ok. Todd has his whole stomach removed on Oct 9. He was in Sentara Norfolk for 10 days. He is learning how to eat again and it’s still a struggle.
We went to VOA on Monday and his last CT showed that the tumors on his liver continue to shrink. They were burned via ultrasound during his surgery.
He is still on Gleevec, his chemo, just a pill every day. He probably will be the rest of his life.
His cancer is a GIST. It’s sort of unusual and we were lucky that they knew what it was right away.
How is your mother doing?
And Purfekt10, I hope you’re doing well too. We usually have to go to VOA at Lake Wright. Which means we have to pass the new IKEA, hope that opens soo.0 -
That’s great news Peggywolff, my mother has started a different chemo, unfortunately surgery is not a option for her. Yes I can’t till IKEA opens too0

I had primary peritoneal carcinoma (very rare). My chemo was done at Virginia Oncology Associates in Norfolk, but I got my weekly blood tests at Virginia Oncology Associates in northern Suffolk.

I didn’t know there was an office there too. Glad it’s closer to you.
Sorry your mother can’t have surgery, but I hope chemo is helping.
This all started in April, so coming up on a year now.
Todd also has a severe back injury, we believe it’s Arachnoiditis. Not cureable, just like GIST, he takes Suboxone for pain. I kind of wish one of the things wrong with him was common, we belong to a lot of Facebook groups for rare diagnoses!0
