I've had three needle biopsies throughout this 32 years of fighting cancer. The first two were painful but tolerable, this one was basically the same. The only difference was this doctor gave me a few injections of lidocaine first to numb the tumor before sticking the large hollow core needle into it to get the tissue samples. That helped a great deal until he decided he needed to go deeper into the tumor to be sure to get enough tissue. Wow, it got painful quick, but still, I've had worse things done throughout the cancer marathon.
