This was the third port I've had put in throughout the 32 years of dealing with cancer. The first one quit working after about 6 months and it had to be replaced. I kept that port for 18 years after treatment was finished because I didn't want to give it up. Finally, after I gave in and let them take it out, I was diagnosed again 3 years later. This one I had to have because they can never find a vein in one or two sticks anymore, and it's getting worse. I will have to have lots and lots of blood draws, scans, and other procedures throughout this trial, so it was a must. I love a port. If you're on the fence about whether or not to get one....get the port!!
