How do I get my husband to try to eat? He started out at 157 pounds and is now down to 113 pounds. We go to the doctor in a couple days and I'm go to push to get a feeding tube. Does anyone have any advice?

I haven't entered in any clinical trials, not because I didn't want to, I just haven't found any near me or that I qualify for and then it it's traveling then its the $$ is a problem. Sorry to hear about your husband let me know if you find a trial, keep me posted and I'll do the same. I've been on Opdivo for 15 months and luckily very few if any side effects. I go on the 9th for a CT Scan with contrast (they don't usually do it with contrast because of what little kidney I have left) so Im having some scan anxiety for sure. I'll let you know the results. Take care of yourselves, and if you're into God and pray it does help!!! He's there to listen.......

I do not how to get you husband to eat except this. Since surgery I will never be able to eat again. Between surgery & radiation there is too much damage to my throat. I am permanently on a feeding tube. That being said. 1) If he gets a feeding tube watch out for "dumping syndrome". Sometimes the formula or food will empty too fast into the intestine causing for me anyway nauseau & diarrhea. I dropped down to 68lbs. 2) Ask for a product called Liquacel. It is 90 calories per ounce & mostly protein. It should help him gain pounds back more rapidly. 3) There is a feeding machine called a Joey so he can take the food in more slowly if he does get dumping syndrome or it may just work for him better. Other than that I can only suggest tempting him with some soft foods that he may favor. I hope all goes well for him.
