Hi,
Has anyone had a partial rib bone (s) removal to relieve pain that has metastasized to ribs from original colon? Is it painful? Leave a huge scare, cane you get back to a normal life? Ie golf? Running? My chances are real good to put this in remission, but I’m really concerned about the turnaround time, the downsides. Any help out there?

I haven't had a bone metastasis. But I've known people who have. Mostly, they have had radiation to help relieve the pain.

However, we don't know those people's particular circumstances. And I don't know your exact circumstances. Is this what your medical team is recommending? Did they take your case to the tumor committee?

I can tell you this. Our bodies are pretty amazing at adapting. My first husband had open heart surgery many, many years ago. The surgeon saw the upper part of the patient's sternum in order to access the heart - they wire it back together. My husband's pain was manageable, and he bounced back pretty quickly - 8 weeks I think.

I hope that someone here has experienced this to share their experience. Best wishes.
