Doc was there, nurses and a few patients, but that was pretty slim. They said because all elective surgery was canceled they had far less to do. I see them talking about how much money the hospitals are losing because of no elective surgery. It must be a real money maker.

Just wait until you realize that some early stage cancer surgeries are considered elective surgery. My mastectomy was considered an elective surgery even after a biopsy and lumpectomy yielded pathology that showed more invasive disease than they thought. I found out yesterday at my doctor's appointment that I wouldn't have gotten my surgery had I waited two more weeks because in terms of seriousness, mine might have been considered elective. That's scary to me.

This pandemic is really threatening the financial strength of the entire medical community. My eye doctor has been closed since late March. The surgeon who did both of my husband's knee replacement surgeries isn't doing joint replacement surgeries. Without surgeries, most anesthesiologists have very limited income. OR nurses have been laid off. They aren't doing screening colonoscopies so it's like a house of cards falling - once one falls, the others go too.

My husband was supposed to have an appt on Wednesday with his PCP but we cancelled. He hasn't been out since March 12th. The were going to do a telehealth appt but he can wait.
