The drug "LETROZOLE" information sheet states it for making it easy to get pregnant. What was it approved for, & how does it work for bc?

Letrozole is actually an aromatase inhibitor. It blocks estrogen and is given to women who have estrogen receptive positive breast cancer. I’m not sure how it works for pregnancy nor whether it was originally designed for breast cancer or pregnancy.

Interesting. I don't know anything about it being for pregnancy.

It is used for those beginning IVF therapy, as it does encourage ovulation. The train has left the station for bc patients taking it, of course, as we postmenopausal gals have no eggs to release—the very few we have left are too deteriorated to be viably fertilized. It’s also taken by male bodybuilders, which is an illegitimate medical use.

Unlike the shortage of hydroxychlooquine (Plaquenil) for autoimmune-disease patients because of its inappropriate prescribing for COVID prophylaxis, the above uses do not impact the supply of letrozole.

@ChicagoSandy. Thank you for the information. I thought I was told when I started my Anastrazole (also aromatase inhibitor) that the did Aromatase inhibitors for post-menopausal women because they didn't give them to women who might get pregnant.
If it suppresses ones estrogen, how does it encourage ovulation? I know you told us before that you are married to someone with practicing medicine.
I am not questioning you, but asking questions to educate myself.
