Today's lesson I learned about being a laryngectomee.

I've noticed that liquid, whatever I drank last, tends to run out of my nose a lot. Especially if I bend over. I learned today that the sphincter muscle that used to keep things down in was removed so gravity takes over and whatever I drank last just flows back out.

Greg, my brother had the same thing after esophagectomy. Be very careful. He found that it caused him to frequently choke on liquids.

My esophagus has been disconnected from my trachea so that's one benefit for me. It's not possible for me to choke anymore. One small victory.
