I just made reservations for some rooms for my family at a hotel near the hospital.

I was told they had specials for patients. After going through all the booking information and get to the end they add extra charges that offset the discount they just gave. I think it's a disgrace that they don't care about anything but the buck.

Not surprising at all knowing corporate America--- greedy little *^@%$s
Which "generous" hotel chain is this? They need to be called out and embarrassed so no one else falls for their shameful scheme.
You really should talk to someone at your hospital, perhaps a social worker would know who to contact.0 -
Some of the extended stay hotels are very reasonable.0

People shouldn't have to deal with this kind of crap when they are already being forced to deal with Cancer (or any other major, financially draining, serious illness). It's just wrong. Have you asked at your hospital if there are patient friendly (obviously NOT this one you found) accommodations near by?0

I just made a reservation for next Monday for me and Donna in Nashville at a brand new Hotel, The Hyatt House Nashville. We have watched them build it over the last year. It's very convenient to Vandy and the rooms were listed at 140.00 with the added taxes. Not too bad for Nashville. Then after confirming the reservation, I instantly get an email telling me that parking is available onsite for $35.00. I tried to cancel, but their cancelation costs 80%. So, they got me, we will go ahead and stay but I won't be doing them again.0

Oh Greg, that is just WRONG! Is the hotel walking distance from the hospital? If so, can you dump the car in hospital parking? Or is a taxi or Uber or Lyft cheaper than the cost of parking, if it's too far to walk? Or does that hospital provide a shuttle? Just thoughts...0
