This topic came up many times with my recent diagnosis. People that I've known for years went stone cold and silent when I told them that I had cancer again. Why? Because most people just don't know what to say, it's an awkward moment. Ms. Jane and I thought it was a good time to put up some tips on what to say and how to help comfort a friend or family that has been diagnosed. Take a look at the post and since we know that you have been in this situation before yourself, add what you think you would like to hear from someone. Since I do not FB, here is what came to mind:
+1! You have deftly and 'caringly' placed the human aspect of cancer into perfect focus. Those simple, yet profound things that make a day tolerable, pleasant, memorable - if only for a few moments. Even if we have plenty of help, it is always heartening to hear another offer. A little extra noise might be just what we need when the "sounds of silence" can be deafening. And, those offers are not just for errands, cooking or cleaning, they are evidence of the bond of true friendship. Too many offers? Can we ever hear "I love you" too many times?0 -
What a great article, Greg and Jane! I'm taking a "chunky blanket making" class using soft chenille yarn, thinking I'll make a bunch and bring them over to the chemo clinic, thanks for the inspiration!!!!0

Great information for everyone!
You are a true warrior. In my life, I have had the chance to spend time with many who "regular" people would call very brave. Greg, you walk among those men and women. My best wishes to you and yours moving while forward.
