@katiefnp....Hi Katie, I know you don't come on this site too often and neither do I. I wanted you to know that I was thinking of you and hoping things are going OK. I was laid off my job and I am relieved as I am facing another surgery and also medicare decisions. My head is spinning!0July 2018

Hi Katiefnp, I wanted to say hello....we had some of the same doctors at Dana Farber and also the same time of breast cancer. You seem to have a beautiful spirit and despite not knowing each other, you have inspired this terrified woman....thank you, Judy0October 2017

oh my, where are you from?I have been a nurse for 27 years. but when you become a patient my nursing goes out the window. I am a patient being treated as a cancer patient. I am not equipped to treat myself. As a triple negative your fight is harder, yet don't give up. all we can do is pray and do our best to follow the regime on this never ending journey.0February 2017

I just started on Xeloda 3 days ago. Diagnosed 3 years ago. The TNBC has raised its ugly head again in my bones. My doctors are also looking for a trail. Hang in there.0November 2016

Hi Katie...sorry to hear about your recurrence. Are you familiar with Hope Lodge in Jamaica Plain? It is free of charge for patients who live more than 40 miles away and are undergoing treatment at any of the cancer centers in Boston....they are at 125 Huntington Avenue...phone number is six, one, seven, three, nine, six, five, five, one, one. Check out their web site...sounds as though you'd like to camp but this could give you an alternative. I have been treated at Dana Farber in Weymouth but live in Quincy so I am very fortunate to have a satellite so close to home.
Wishing you good luck and I will say a prayer for you.
(Just out of curiosity...I signed my name for over 42 years with a "PNP" after my name as a pedi nurse practitioner and worked for many years with a wonderful "FNP"...just wondering if katiefnp stood for family nurse practitioner?)0August 2016 -
Thanks katiefnp, They did do a Paracentesis on his abdomen and took out 7.3 Lts of fluid for testing, Not quite sure what the testing supposed to show as of yet. Then on Wed. they did the Thoracentesis and drew out 0.8 on his Right side near his lung area. The stomach one he felt much better we are waiting now to see how fast the fluid comes again. On his lung area he did feel some pain only because the lung (rt.side) was trying to go back into place. I'm keeping my finger cross that the fluid takes time before it's back again. Thanks Again0July 2014

Hi, thanks for the compliment. The pic was taken a few years ago. I still have the hounds, and only they get out in the sun. I do too, but I try to limit it. I get up at 5, so I can get some yard work and walk the dogs. Then I retreat inside-rest and do house work. Then I go out in the evening. Personally, I feel like-How could I be so stupid? -most of the time.0June 2014

Hello and welcome, we are glad you found us.Please feel free to join in the conversations. Here is a link to our cancer dx page for your type of cancer. Take a look at it to get you started on some information. You will notice at the bottom of that page 4 of our active users who have had that journey already, you may wish to contact them for their experience and wisdom. Also, I encourage you to go to the questions page now by clicking on the questions tab at the top of the page and post what is the most pressing issue you have right now. This will introduce you to the community and get you started on the help you need right now.
https://www.whatnext.com/conditions/cancer/breast-cancer
There are also subtypes listed on this page to narrow down the type of cancer to match your dx.
Also, if you can take a few minutes and fill in some details of your journey so far, it will help others as they try to answer questions for you, it also helps others as they search through the data base to find someone like themselves. Confirming your email will allow you to receive updates and notices from the site when someone answers your questions or writes on your wall.
Thanks for being with us and let me know if I can help you find any information on the site. After you have an opportunity to look the site over and see what great things there are here, we encourage you to invite your friends, family or anyone you know that may be helped by the connections on WhatNext to join the site also.
