I'm glad you had good news. Please do not get upset with me but before you close the door on further treatments get a second opinion. I learned earlier not to trust to much. I do a lot of research on my own and the second opinion I got helped me make the best choice possible for my cell type.0October 2013

Hi buggyboo, welcome to Whatnext. I'm sorry you found us under such circumstances but please know we are here for you. Many of us just diagnosed like you, others going through treatment, some finished with treatment and other living and thriving. It's true, as scary as the word "cancer" is, there are many survivors.
We are here if you need to ask anything or even if you just need to vent. We get it and we've been in similar shoes. Wishing you all the best as you start your journey. Sending you tons of hugs.0April 2013 -

Hi buggy boo. This is the first post I have written. Glad I found this website. I am so sorry for your diagnosis. I have stage II, met with radiation doc today and will then be in a clinical trial for chemo. I would recommend you take a friend to your appointments and have them bring your list of questions. This is a very emotional time. Have a support system! Good luck0April 2013

Welcome Buggyboo! I'm sorry you've joined this journey, but you will find (and probably already have found) there are some pretty wonderful people here to meet on this path. I was a little backwards - I was diagnosed in February after a hysterectomy. As you have noted, it is shocking and terrifying and you can feel so alone. If you haven’t already, I recommend reading up on your cancer. I love books, and for me, knowledge really was power. Some of the things I read sounded scary, but frankly, nothing was worse than my own imagination. And I learned enough that when my doctor gave me information, I could understand a little better and ask questions. Also, sometimes, the reading made the information the doctor gave me more clear “hearing it” more than once. It’s just a thought. One easy to digest book that is available at many local libraries is 100 Questions and Answers about Uterine Cancer (get the newest edition available) by Don Dizon, MD, FACP and Linda R Duska, MD. For inspiration I loved There’s No Place Like Hope: A Guide To Beating Cancer In Mind-Sized Bites By Vickie Girard. Some other books I have read and pulled some parts out of each to adjust my lifestyle or for inspiration are: Cancer 50 Essential Things To Do By Greg Anderson, Beating Cancer With Nutrition by Patrick Quillin, PhD, RD, CNS and Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips By Kris Carr. Be gentle with yourself. I think this is the most chaotic emotionally. If you need someone to talk to, I’m here.0April 2013

Hi !
As you can tell there is a lot of support available here with all these amazing women. You are in stage I, which I'm sure your doctors is the best stage to be diagnosed. I was diagnosed 8 weeks ago with stage II. I am 6 weeks post hysterectomy. Fortunately no cancer was outside of my uterus or in my lymph nodes, so 8 won't be doing chemo. however, to help decrease the risk of it returning, I am having 5 radiation treatments directed spe ifically to my vaginal cuff. My hope is that will be it, for now. I am sending positive thoughts your way!0April 2013 -

God bless you along your journey.0April 2013
