Linda, I have found a lot of support and comfort here. Unfortunately there are a lot of people out there fighting cancer and they are truly the only ones who really know how it feels. I've read some scary stuff but I've read really positive stuff too. It gives me extra hope when I read of success stories. I have no doubt that we will be successful too. Smiles :) Carol

Hi, It seems like we have similar histories. I started with uterine cancer in June, 2011, then thyroid cancer Sept, 2012. Follow-ups coming up soon. Always worried. I hope your treatments work for you. It's difficult fighting one type of cancer, without the complications of the second cancer. Is your thyroid cancer in remission?

    For you
    Bless, O God,
    all who struggle with cancer.
    Empower them with hope
    for each and every day.
    Provide them with loving
    and tender care, laughter,
    and the support of love.
    Grant them
    courage when they are afraid,
comfort when they are in pain,
    and your blessing
    when all else seems hopeless,
that in their fight with illness
they may continue to praise you
    and glorify your name.
    Amen.

Avonlea02-i'm very sorry you are feeling so sick. Its bad enough dealing with just having cancer without the other crappola. I hope things get better for you soon. You're a fighter so I know you'll be OK. I will keep you in my prayers.

    Vickie
P.S. if I could figure out how to change my name to Vickie on my home screen I'd do it. Not sure it it is possible without starting new account. Just thought also, I'm known by 2bbcontinued, perhaps could put it in (....) for a while. So many more important things to spend my time thinking about. Sorry for going off topic.

Avonlea02-i just finished reading your post regarding your cancer history. I have had 2 primaries in less than a year. I wanted to let you know your words inspired me. I often wonder how other people respond when they get numerous cancers. But you're right when you say we have no choice but to fight & carry on. I try not to think about when the next time is gonna come. Sometimes I feel its not if cancer shows up again but when. Try not to think like that but sometimes it creeps in. I know there are many who have & are dealing with multiple cancers on this site. I've been lucky compared to others. Surgery has taken care of mine. But i know i'm probably not going to continue to be lucky if it continues to show up. But we have to push those thoughts aside and move on. I'm sorry you have had to go thru so much but admire your spirit. Thanks for your words.

Hi Avonlea, that was really nice of you to write such a long reply to me,especially that you're not feeling well.
I'm so sorry to hear about your recurrence.I don't know how you stay so up,I really admire you.
I see why you were confused by my post. I know it's very good news and I am grateful that surgery is possible. It's just that I am so ,so scared about this surgery because it's the lung. The thought of them having to collapse my lung sounds so horrible to me,and the chest tube afterwards makes me panic just thinking about it.
I'm afraid of the pain I'll be in when I wake up.Even though it's VATS I'm sure it's still very painful.
Hearing about your friend gives me hope . I'm sure she has gone through hell to get where she is today, but like you say, she's alive and happy so it was all worth it. I'll get there too, I pray. I try so hard to be positive but's it's not easy for me as I let my mind take me to dark places. I think I'll start holding up that STOP sign like you do and give that a try.
I am going to pray that your chemo gets easier and goes by quickly.
Thank you again Avonlea for your hugs and prayers. Take care, feel better. Zoe

    SOMETHING TO REMEMBER!
If you are suffering from a disease, or a chronic medical condition, you may wonder if you can ever be healed. The Bible has good news for you!
While doctors and medicine are a gift of God – and He certainly uses them to bring healing – His power is infinitely greater than any human wisdom or prescription. In fact, He “is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us” (Ephesians 3:20b).

Throughout the Bible, God encourages us to call upon Him for healing. He says in Exodus 15:26b, “I am the LORD who heals you,” and we call Him “Jehovah Rapha” because He is the God of healing. Psalm 103:2-3 says, “Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits – who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.”AMEN

    I THOUGHT THIS MIGHT HELP
Prayer for Those Who Live Alone
    I live alone, dear Lord.
    Stay by my side,
In all my daily needs be Thou my guide.
    Grant me good health,
    For that indeed, I pray,
To carry on my work from day to day.
Keep pure my heart, my thought, my every deed,
Let me be kind and unselfish in my neighbor's need.
Spare me from fire, from flood, malicious tongues,
from thieves, from fear, and evil ones.
If sickness or an accident befall,
    Then humbly, Lord I pray,
    Hear Thou my call.
And when I'm feeling low, or in despair,
    Lift up my heart!
And help me in my prayer.
    I live alone, dear Lord,
    Yet have no fear,
Because I feel Your Presence ever near.
    Amen.

    Hi,
I saw that you said your vocal chord was paralyzed. I had a vocal chord paralyzed from thyroid cancer surgery. My voice went from soprano to an uncontrollable mess. However it did come back! Over the years it gradually healed, after about 5 years the nerves healed. I have been told recently that I could go back to singing if I went for vocal training. After 20 years of holding my voice back for fear of cracking it is a challenge to overcome. There is hope - Tracy

So sorry to hear you are going through a difficult time. I totally understand the loneliness of the RAI treatments. I have gone through them 5 times, 4 in the hospital and once at home. The hospital stays were horrible because even the nurses did not come very often to check on me. Attempt to stay positive, even if there does not appear to be a ray of hope. Surround yourself with positive friends and family that can lift you up and give you a shoulder to cry on when you need it. You can check out my story and get some helpful info from my blog www.papillarythyroidcancerguide.com
    Wishing you the best
