Mkjetset well i wish i had a ton of hair when i started. My oncol dr told me that it would get thin.So when she told me that i wasnt sad i was like i want for 1 thing thru this journey and that was to control when my hair falls out.So i waited just 3 days before i had to start treatment and had a gal cut my hair short.I felt that i was controlling something in all this mess and that was it.I cried after it was cut because my hair was in the middle of my back. And to cut it was saying something to me .I controlled that part and i felt like i accomplished that much.My family husband, younger daughter well they werent so excited about it.My oldest daughter was like Ma just cut it.If its going to make you feel better than just do it they will deal with it..Everyone who has seen me since i started treatment said omg its cute.I like it.Im surprised to hear them say that but it makes me feel good.We find our happiness where we can find it and thats it for me..My short hair.I wont let it grow long no more i like the easy part of short hair wash, gel and go...Now i dont know what will happen when i start chemo after christmas if it will thin out somemore but its ok.I tell people its just hair it will grow back,I did notice its gotten more grey because of the treatment i had a little bit of my brown but now its grey and salt and pepper..Well mk i hope your doing good and i hope you have a great weekend.Ty for your responses..

    Hi Mkjetset,
I from time to time forget i have cancer and i want to go to work.I at times feel great but those are short lived.I just want a little hope that all that i endured for the 7 weeks and chemo and pills was enough.I see him on tuesday the surgeon.I went for my 2week follow-up today and it was ok.We talked and i asked alot of questions but you know they cant say for sure the treatment worked. So i have to wait to see what the surgeon says and we go from there.I try to remain positive but tears creeps in and i dust myself off and move on.I spend little time in pity thats for sure.I want to have good news to be able to tell my family and friends that everything went good.I never been good with waiting. But thats all we have is time to wait and wonder.Well you have a great weekend and ty for your kind words.

Hey mkjetset! Welcome. I share the same diagnosis as you (Anal Cancer). Finished treatment in November 2012. I am 63 with family history of colon cancer so I was aware of symptoms and caught it early. Currently am cancer free. I still have a few "accidents" but it has improved since my last treatment. I hope your news comes back positive for you. I agree with what geekling wrote about do something everyday to improve either your body or your spirit. I started off my day every morning by saying to myself that I would accomplish "two" things - no matter if it was 2 minutes of exercising my legs, arms, or whatever or getting the laundry done. It was still an accomplishment. Wishing you well. Keep us informed. :-)

Hello, thank you so much for your response. I have recieved alot of positive responses which have all helped but you sound alot like me. I was very busy, and active prior to treatment and after I am like a bump on the log. I did go to the gym today and walked for 20 minutes which helped alot...and i love to be outside but that "energy: level. luckily I have lots of friends that understand and are more patient with me than I am. Will be headed back to work next week but only working part time for a while. This I know will help my head..maybe not my body..but this to shall pass. Have a great day!

Welcome to Whatnext! I finished treatment 1 year ago and so far am cancer free. I was also diagnosed with Anal cancer stage 2. It taks some time to get your strength back. I still am not where I was before I got sick, but maybe I won't ever be. I am 66 years old and enjoying every moment I have now!

Sometimes I am a little slow. I'm not sure I can blame that on the cancer treats but they did not help. I think, in truth, that I look back in anger both at the docs and at myself. I wrote something on another person's wall and realized that I'd not been honest with you because I did not understand what you meant when you said "limbo". It took me 6 months to get strong enough to begin to get up to work out at the gym to begin to regain my strength. Six months of laying around wondering what the point was if this was the way it would be from now on. Be kind to yourself and give yourself time. If I knew you better, I'd offer detailed methodology but, as is, just keep up on nutrition and be gentle with your back end.

Hello and welcome, we are glad you found us. Here is a link to our cancer dx page for your type of cancer. Take a look at it to get you started on some information. You will notice at the bottom of that page 4 of our active users who have had that journey already, you may wish to contact them for their experience and wisdom. Also, any questions you may have just post them in the questions tab and everyone will see them there and be able to help you.

    https://www.whatnext.com/conditions/cancer/anal-cancer

There are also subtypes listed on this page to narrow down the type of cancer to match your dx.

Also, if you can take a few minutes and fill in some details of your journey so far, it will help others as they try to answer questions for you, it also helps others as they search through the data base to find someone like themselves. Confirming your email will allow you to receive updates and notices from the site when someone answers your questions or writes on your wall.

Thanks for being with us and let me know if I can help you find any information on the site. After you have an opportunity to look the site over and see what great things there are here, we encourage you to invite your friends, family or anyone you know that may be helped by the connections on WhatNext to join the site also.
