You are completely right my comment is topsy turvey. From my view however the drug was working against my cancer and not taking it is scary because the cancer may get a chance to get going again. Thankfully the side effects are past and I'm on a reduced dose and doing well. May you remain cancer free and may this experiment of mine be successful. OH yes you are correct negative things happen and we each must deal with them as we are able. To the extent I can, I prefer to look on the positive side.

Keep it positive and smile :)

    Geekling,
Yes, I did ask questions of the doc, but as he said he didn't have enough pieces to my puzzle to answer. For whatever reason, appointments were pretty screwed up when I first learned of this condition. My first appointment was with the surgeon, the next was for a pet scan and then the oncologist. He still did not have a concrete biopsy report, seems the doc that did that did not get a good sample. He even told me that after he did it. He called it a blind biopsy. Anyhow the oncologist still was waiting on colonoscopy, new biopsy and ultra sound report the day I met with him. So Ashe said many test reports were still pending. If I have learned anything from here, it is to ask questions and ask again and get on the phone and ask again. :)

Geekling, you are a refreshing hoot. I do believe in alternative ways of dealing with being human in the midst of "modern" cancer care. Before I had chemo/radiation I could feel my abdominal power center, after being poisoned I cannot. I will look into your suggestions. I have been trying a modified Gerson diet as the complete program too labor intensive for one person plus I was going to bed hungry to avoid the gruesome salt free soup :-(

Hi geekling. I see that you are a raw foodie and that is the route I am going. I need to loose some weight and get healthier, so I am on a green diet, about 75 % raw fruits and veggies with the rest steamed (can't stand some veggies raw). I have cut out meats and take various food derived supplements that are known cancer fighters. I am new at eating healthy, (my former diet was basically crap) and I am looking for some new recipes. Do you know of any sources for good raw food recipes? I have stage 2 PC and radiation is what my onc wants. I was exposed to ionizing radiation in my job several times in the military, ( just found out 2 years ago) and radiation scares me more than the cancer. Radiation is the gift that keeps on giving whether you want it or not. I don't know if this diet will help, but I just mule headed enough to go for it. After reading your posts, I see you are one tough cookie with a mind of your own and I hope you stay that way always. I wish you all the best "cancer survivor" (love that phrase). P.S. You are definately a breath of fresh air.

    Hi geekling,
I did ask the nurse about the number she was giving me. She then asked if I was a smoker, I said no. Then she stated a normal CEA marker is 2.5 for a non smoker and that mine was 2.9 while that is not "normal" it is only slightly elevated. Again, I asked ok but what does that mean? She said, anything below 2.5 = no cancer present in body, I am 2.9 which means there is something present but my number is lower than others she has seen. So that is why I came to the community with the ? Monday is my pet scan and I see oncologist on Thursday with my list of ?. I was just blown away with your story. All those years showing, talking trying to get help from different docs regarding your problem. Did it ever spread to other parts of your body? I believe you said your was external, while my original doc had been treating me for an internal hemmroid. Best wishes to you.

Hi,you answered my hydration question awhile ago,you mentioned pineapple andpapaya-you mean seeds? That sounds good.Another question-what do you think of carbonated flavored water? I know sodas are more diuretic than hydrator, but are carbonated waters same thing? Good or bad? I don't know-do you? Thanks and Take carelove dw

Hi geekling. Read my latest post on CakeLady's wall. It explains why I am following my nutritionists diet with my doctors approval. I finally found an alternative treatment that I believe in and am happy with, so I am going to swing for the bleachers. If I strike out, at least I will know I tried and I avoided the horrors of conventional treatment which scares me more than my cancer.
Looking forward to reading your book.
    Best wishes.
