thank you for speaking up for the young man whose Mom was unsure how to talk with him. You've been through heck and a half yourself. Best bouncing back wishes0April 2014

I would be honored. I spoke last year at the Ramsey Relay For Life. It was a very successful event and raised over $250,000. Not because of my speech. Haha I also know the superintendent and Principal in NHRHS. They can help you contact me. This site retracted your email address. Dan Schiavello0February 2014

Hi Elena, I have also had thyroid cancer since 2012. I had surgery and rai. About a week ago, I had my 1 year follow-up scan. It showed no traces of the cancer and my doctor said I was cured. I would rather think remission, but she said I only have to follow up with the endo to monitor my thyroid meds, which haven't gotten leveled off in the year I've been on them. It's still a work in progess. I wish you well and a long successful life. My grandmother had thyroid cancer and lived 30-40 years to age 89 without any recurrence.0November 2013

Just read your diagnosis experience. Wow, that doctor sure doesn't know how to speak with his patients. I'm sorry but I do not care how busy a doctor is they should not be calling you from their car to tell you that you have thyroid cancer!!!
I also remember telling my family and having to be strong for my then teenage daughters who were very upset. I could not cry or show that I was SCARED!!!0December 2013 -

Hello and welcome, we are glad you found us. Your experience as a survivor is valuable to those who are just starting, you can help by answering a few questions. Your young age will also be a benefit to others, as everyone likes to see a young person be a winner against cancer. Please feel free to join in the conversations. Here is a link to our cancer dx page for your type of cancer. Take a look at it to get you started on some information. You will notice at the bottom of that page 4 of our active users who have had that journey already, you may wish to contact them for their experience and wisdom. Also, I encourage you to go to the questions page now by clicking on the questions tab at the top of the page and post what is the most pressing issue you have right now. This will introduce you to the community and get you started on the help you need right now.

There are also subtypes listed on this page to narrow down the type of cancer to match your dx.
Also, if you can take a few minutes and fill in some details of your journey so far, it will help others as they try to answer questions for you, it also helps others as they search through the data base to find someone like themselves. Confirming your email will allow you to receive updates and notices from the site when someone answers your questions or writes on your wall.
