Carol, I am so sorry about your husband leaving. For some people, it is difficult to think about losing someone significant in your life, and so they think leaving will be easier than facing the possibility of losing you to IBC. My husband shut down, and it was like he just decided to isolate himself and not participate and then he could wish it away. Its been 6 yrs since I finished treatment and still he isolates himself, even though I have started doing more things. With Chemo I developed Rheumatoid arthritis. It tends to limit my ability to do things I used to enjoy doing like pottery, hiking. I get so fatigued sometimes, I need a nap in the afternoon just to be good for the evening. That nap used to be at 1pm and now I can go til 3 pm! But he doesn't see that as he's at work. I was forced out of my job (RN) because of the treatments and then RA. Try and keep the people who are supportive around you. Don't hide the fact that your hubby left. It is not Your shame, it is his. As for your hair, I see it is growing back right? It may be curly for awhile, but it generally goes back to what it was before cancer. I remember the itch before it fell out. My onc said it was all those hair follicles screaming! But they will recover, and they come back. My hair is so fine now and not as thick, but its hair and I still wear the caps just to keep my head warm. You are not freaky looking, you are a strong person who can face anything now because you have faced this and survived! HUgs Sorry this was so long. I have survived 7 yrs since diagnosis.0March 2013

I read your note about about feeling too tired to be a supportive wife right now, and I totally understand!! I feel the same way many days! I try to remember a something I heard on tv once. Marriage takes a 100% effort. Sometimes it's 50 / 50, but sometimes one person has to give 90%, because the other can only give 10%. Now is our 10% time. We'll find our strength again, but we are in need now. Good luck to you, and let yourself accept all the help that you need!0January 2013
