Azsuper - Thank you for your suggestions. They are very helpful. If my husband allows me to speak with his oncologist, it will boost my resolve to ask for a chest ct scan as well as for the abdomen. My husband had queried her on the subject but he reported to me that she thought it was enough that there was nothing irregular on his pre-surgery x-ray of his lungs. When I replied that things may have changed and x-ray is not too revealing, my husband said I could pursue the subject with her if I wished.0August 2014

Hi azsuper. I thought I answered you about the question of leaving the port in or removing it, but I don't see it on that thread. I wanted to tell you the experience I had in hopes of helping you make a decision.
I was diagnosed with colon cancer in June of 2010, had surgery and then had the port insertion. I had chemo for 3 months and then they found cancer in my liver. After that surgery I continued on the chemo for over a year. I went into remission and faced that decision. Leave the port or remove it. My Oncologist told me it was safe to leave it but my decision. I chose to leave it in. I wasn't having any problems with it so I figured why not. Well I'm very glad I did leave it in because 8 months later I was told the cancer had spread to my lungs and I had to go back on chemo. I will be on chemo for the rest of my life. Unless the port is bothering you, I'd leave it in for awhile. Praying that you'll never need it again, but in case you do, it's still there.
God Bless.... and remember.... ~Never Lose Hope~0June 2014 -

Hi azsuper, thanks for the follow. I don't know anything at all about Colorectal Cancer but I think you could say we're still in the same boat. We've got our problems, huh?
I lived for a very short while in Waco, TX but found it just as hot and humid there as Daytona was so I moved home.
Hope to speak with you again soon.0May 2014 -
