Azsuper - Thank you for your suggestions. They are very helpful. If my husband allows me to speak with his oncologist, it will boost my resolve to ask for a chest ct scan as well as for the abdomen. My husband had queried her on the subject but he reported to me that she thought it was enough that there was nothing irregular on his pre-surgery x-ray of his lungs. When I replied that things may have changed and x-ray is not too revealing, my husband said I could pursue the subject with her if I wished.

Hi azsuper. I thought I answered you about the question of leaving the port in or removing it, but I don't see it on that thread. I wanted to tell you the experience I had in hopes of helping you make a decision.
I was diagnosed with colon cancer in June of 2010, had surgery and then had the port insertion. I had chemo for 3 months and then they found cancer in my liver. After that surgery I continued on the chemo for over a year. I went into remission and faced that decision. Leave the port or remove it. My Oncologist told me it was safe to leave it but my decision. I chose to leave it in. I wasn't having any problems with it so I figured why not. Well I'm very glad I did leave it in because 8 months later I was told the cancer had spread to my lungs and I had to go back on chemo. I will be on chemo for the rest of my life. Unless the port is bothering you, I'd leave it in for awhile. Praying that you'll never need it again, but in case you do, it's still there.
God Bless.... and remember.... ~Never Lose Hope~

Tell me about your chemo experiences, I read about your port having to be installed twice...are there different types of chemo therapy doses too with numbers assigned? like 1,2,3...etc.

Hi azsuper, thanks for the follow. I don't know anything at all about Colorectal Cancer but I think you could say we're still in the same boat. We've got our problems, huh?
I lived for a very short while in Waco, TX but found it just as hot and humid there as Daytona was so I moved home.
Hope to speak with you again soon.

Hello and welcome, we are glad you found us. Please feel free to join in the conversations. Here is a link to our cancer dx page for your type of cancer. Take a look at it to get you started on some information. You will notice at the bottom of that page 4 of our active users who have had that journey already, you may wish to contact them for their experience and wisdom. Also, I encourage you to go to the questions page now by clicking on the questions tab at the top of the page and post what is the most pressing issue you have right now. This will introduce you to the community and get you started on the help you need right now.

    https://www.whatnext.com/conditions/cancer/colorectal-colon-cancer

There are also subtypes listed on this page to narrow down the type of cancer to match your dx.

Also, if you can take a few minutes and fill in some details of your journey so far, it will help others as they try to answer questions for you, it also helps others as they search through the data base to find someone like themselves. Confirming your email will allow you to receive updates and notices from the site when someone answers your questions or writes on your wall.

Thanks for being with us and let me know if I can help you find any information on the site.
