Thank you for the kind words cyesuislord1! Yes it's a blessing to have all the wonderful support on here, as well as our daily lives
have a great week, I'll continue to pop in & out as I have been one of those stragglers going in and out..lol, working PT while on Chemo, has taken my time, but it's great!0July 2014 -
Rest up (however, can one really ever get rest while in the hospital?!), but get up and walk as painful as it is. And as a friend told me, focus on standing straight up, too. The more walks you take each day, the better you'll be. Yes, the pillow on the stomach when you cough or laugh works - isn't it strange? I swiped mine from the hospital.
The pain will last quite a while, but improve gradually each day. Once you get home, don't push it. No lifting, limited climbing stairs (I was allowed once a day). Riding in a car was painful for weeks, and I couldn't push a shopping cart or open a heavy door for several weeks. Take your time and don't push yourself. You don't want to hemorrhage. Have people help you at home. The day after I got home, I found that the sink was leaking into the cabinet and had drenched everything. I felt awful, but I had to call my very dear friend to come over since my husband was at work and she had to take everything out, dry everything, tighten the pipe, etc. That's what friends are for.
Good luck! Let us know how you are doing. Hoping for only clear biopsy results!0July 2014 -
Home? How are you feeling? Do you have help at home? Any news on the pathology?
My period was all messed up probably from both emotional stress and the physical stress of having the insides rearranged. Think about it, to get lymph nodes, they had to move things around. Also I had blood in my urine from the catheters they placed in my ureters. It's always worth it to check in by phone with your doctor or nursing staff.
Please try and focus on your recovery. Worrying is not going to change the situation. As a dear friend reminded me, it is what it is. If we are handed lemons we will have to figure out how to make lemonade. You'll learn how to dance in the rain. One step at a time, friend.0July 2014 -
Hello and welcome, we are glad you found us. Please feel free to join in the conversations. Here is a link to our cancer dx page for your type of cancer. Take a look at it to get you started on some information. You will notice at the bottom of that page 4 of our active users who have had that journey already, you may wish to contact them for their experience and wisdom. Also, I encourage you to go to the questions page now by clicking on the questions tab at the top of the page and post what is the most pressing issue you have right now. There are also subtypes listed on this page to narrow down the type of cancer to match your dx.
Also, if you can take a few minutes and fill in some details of your journey so far, it will help others as they try to answer questions for you, it also helps others as they search through the data base to find someone like themselves. Confirming your email will allow you to receive updates and notices from the site when someone answers your questions or writes on your wall.
