This is my 3rd time with cancer. First endometrial, then breast, then small bowel which is now in my peritoneum. I take my meds, chemo plus and 2 holistic capsules. (Cat Claw and Soursop.) The holistic med keep my in a positive. Search it online as Guyabano/Graviola/and Soursop. I think it might help, as least it does for me. My cancer is stable after a year and a half of progressing. I was on ambien when I first became a little sleepless over my problem. I knocked many teeth out. Chemo took my hair, so I wrote this little rambling at age 71. I look young for my age but I don't want a partner while I'm working this cancer. .
I might be in Chemo but I'm keeping it young.
The hair on my head ain't mine but so what?
I'm keeping it young.
'Got a bridge in my mouth, yeah, so what?
I'm keeping it young.
'Rather see me with spaces where spinach get stuck?
No sir, bought teeth....cause I'm keeping it young.
I got the smallest booty of any home girl I've ever seen.
So what? I've thrown the men overboard.
I'm on a ship where I'm the captain of my fate.
I eat chips for lunch and cornflakes for dinner.
Crunch crackers in bed at one a.m. if I want to.
No one can tell me about my belly
which is gravitating toward my knees. (ice therapy next?)
So ladies, do whatever you have to do
As for me, I'm keeping it young.
I'm an amateur writer and poet. Hope you like it.0March 2014 -
Hi Greg -- Would it be possible to start to corral all the questions on hair loss? It's probably the most asked question I see from women (and more than a few men), and it's impossible to rewrite the great info available each time the same question is asked. I'm thinking in particular of where cancer patients can get free scarves, if they'll lose their hair, how fast it grows back, etc. So much gets lost when the same question gets asked over and over -- people get tired of posting the same answers and the same links.
Thanks for any thoughts or advice,
Debra0March 2014 -

Hi There - can you please delete my account? I did not see that it was an option under my profile. I do understand that it cannot be revived.

Hi Greg. Remember that ACS survey that you notified me and other BCC patients about? They told me not to tell anybody. Then when they sent the $400 check, they suggested that I post about it here. I guess a lot of people didn't join up, which is a pity. Anytime anyone joins a survey it makes for a possible break through because of a better understanding of the cancer-especially with a rare cancer. It also can improve ACS services, web sites, etc.
I kept a diary for 5 days, and they sent me a small video camera to take video of me blathering. I'm not sure how that came out-as I'm not used to selfies.
They called me up several times. They seemed interested in the opinions of oncologists about chemo for BCC. When they found out that I staged myself, and I chose my treatment-they wanted to know how I got information. They were shocked that I got my info on Yahoo.
When a doctor kept asking me about my lungs, sinus drainage, and coughing-it was a red flag for me. I went to the MD Anderson site and entered-BCC lungs- Nothing. I went to Yahoo-BCC lungs-and it had a link that took me directly to an abstract in the MD Anderson Medical Library that told me all about how BCC around the nose can drip into the lungs-and you die about 9 months later. I had tried ACS, but that was also nothing----
I had an experience 2 weeks ago-where I went to a new dermatologist, and he had fits because I had radiation instead of surgery-after the biopsies and lab reports. He didn't want anything from the biopsy surgeon- he didn't want anything from the head oncologist. He was ranting that the radiologist didn't have the right to treat me, blah, blah. I sent this info to my supervisor for the survey. I told her with this attitude about radiation by a MD Anderson, good luck with the chemo.
I filled out the medical record report request-then I put on it- this doctor is unhappy that I had radiation. The nurse asked why I did that. The dermatologist came out to confront me. I told him that some of my doctors have doubts about radiation, but they are happy for me that I'm in remission and I can eat and talk, instead of a year of antibiotics and an exposed menges. I had already told him that I was going into palliative care-instead of having almost half of my face removed, then I met the board certified radiologist.0March 2014 -

Greg..
You have all the person info for everyone right. Please give mine to AmyJo if she asks for it. In fact, I'm good with anyone who has been around a while, who you "trust" (as much as is possible on the web) getting my email.
Thanks! Sue0March 2014 -

I am so glad there is a Whatnext. I have a chance to read and discuss my journey. Get information through others sharing their journeys. This site help me to be able to put in words things I just thought about and sometime feared. I find it to be therapeutic for me mentally. If I can help some one in anyway by telling my journey I love to do so thanks for the opportunity.0February 2014

Greg,
This is a documentary (work in progress) made about y personal thoughts about my battle with Cancer! It is meant for those that have been diagnosed with cancer and for their loved ones.
http://youtu.be/C9AnItr5w_Y
Please do not share it with the site until you have had a chance to review it. Let me know your thoughts about whether or not it will be helpful.
It is long (about 25 minutes), but to be impactful I think it is best to watch it until the end.
Thanks,
Best of Health.
