My husband had the whipple. His main issues were his stomach not starting up again, so he was on tube feeding for 4 weeks. But it was like he woke up one morning & wanted to eat & didn't stop for quiet a while:)) Now he is just finishing up radiation & chemo, so food isnt'looking to go.

Clucido, you don't say when you'll have the Whipple surgery. I was in the hospital for ten days then went to my daughter and son-law's home for two weeks of additional convalescing. I did take pain meds at that time and would also take short walks up and down their street for a few weeks before I felt strong enough to Walk around the block. My appetite was slow in awaking, but I managed to eat small helpings of toast with eggs, or coconut milk with cereal. Baking potatoes and non- spicy soups were good. Dairy tended to aggravate my stomach and bowels. I think each person responds differently to digestible post Whipple foods. I'd advise to avoid sugar or artificial sweeteners, even in drinks and also avoid fatty foods. It's easier to eat several small meals a day to give the new stomach re-routing an opportunity to settle into its new and quirky terrain.
