Some other questions you can use to make up your mind would be, how many of your lymph nodes were cancerous? Do you have any other health issues? Does your doctor think, based on your health, that you would do well on Herceptin? I would also read what you can about HER2 positive cancer. Not to scare you (I am also HER2 positive) but it is a more aggressive form of breast cancer. Here is an article about it: http://www.breastcancer.org/symptoms/diagnosis/her2

As a Nurse Navigator told me when I was having a hard time deciding whether or not to take Tamoxifen, she told me you are not "married" to the drug. If you have side effects you don't like, you can always stop taking it. She also told me if I didn't do all I could (the standard of care) for my cancer and it metastasized, I would possibly regret not doing the suggested treatments/drugs, if on the other hand, my cancer metastasizes even with the suggested treatments, at least I could say I did all I could to try to prevent it.

My oncologist told me on a cellular level, it cannot be known if surgery removed all the cancer, that is why all the extra treatment (radiation, chemo, hormone therapy, targeted therapy) is suggested for certain cancers.

As I said in my last post, Herceptin for most people, is well tolerated with minimal side effects (like for me I had slight queasiness, occasionally.) Again, it would probably depend on other health issues you may have, if any.

May God help lead you as you decide and help you have peace with your decision.

Hello; please research both graviola (soursop) and nigella sativa (Habet el Baraka from Egypt). They shrink tumors and are each peer reviewed to do so. Nothing but conventional Western Medicine, of course, is a cure .. but if all the symptoms go away, happiness breaks out all over. What are your intentions? There is a LOT to learn and dictums to follow even if you do go the conventional route. And, nearly forgot, Chaga mushroom

Diagnosed 3 months ago and they still are not treating you. If I were in your shoes, I would be looking for a second opinion. Three months is too long to wait for something to be done about treating cancer. Please seek a second opinion for treatment and keep us posted. In the meantime, welcome to the site. I think that you will find this a friendly place to come when you need to sound off or vent from anger. We are all here to listen and help, if we can, because at some point and time in each of our lives we have been in your situation. Please don't be afraid to ask questions either. No question on this site is silly or dumb. We all have questions we would like other opinions on or answers to. There are so many nice people here that it has helped me get through my fears I had when I was DX'd with DCIS. Good luck in the future.

Hello and welcome, we are glad you found us. Please feel free to join in the conversations. Here is a link to our cancer dx page for your type of cancer. Take a look at it to get you started on some information. You will notice at the bottom of that page 4 of our active users who have had that journey already, you may wish to contact them for their experience and wisdom. Also, I encourage you to go to the questions page now by clicking on the questions tab at the top of the page and post what is the most pressing issue you have right now. This will introduce you to the community and get you started on the help you need right now.

    https://www.whatnext.com/conditions/cancer/breast-cancer

There are also subtypes listed on this page to narrow down the type of cancer to match your dx.

Also, if you can take a few minutes and fill in some details of your journey so far, it will help others as they try to answer questions for you, it also helps others as they search through the data base to find someone like themselves. Confirming your email will allow you to receive updates and notices from the site when someone answers your questions or writes on your wall.

Thanks for being with us and let me know if I can help you find any information on the site. After you have an opportunity to look the site over and see what great things there are here, we encourage you to invite your friends, family or anyone you know that may be helped by the connections on WhatNext to join the site also.
