Greg, here is the answer to your question with regards to the Right-to-try law. Sorry for the delay, Carm.
So...in a nutshell the Right-to-try law is a national state law and also a U. S. federal law that was created with the intent of allowing a terminally ill patient access to any experimental therapy be it a drug, biologic, or a device that has completed a Phase I testing, but has not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Now...there is a very thin line that separates the Right-to-try law from acquiring a drug for compassionate use. With compassionate use any patient with a stage IV can qualify. Compassionate drug use is the use of a new, unapproved drug or a drug approved by the FDA but not indicated for a specific cancer to treat a seriously ill patient when no other treatments are available. I have used this often with Keytruda because Merck is very generous...and extremely smart. They know by giving their drug to an unapproved cancer, they in essence allow the patient to prove it's efficacy without the cost of a lengthly trial. If it is given to a cancer not approved for it's use...and it proves effective, then the drug will be fast tracked to approval without having to do a phase 1/2 trial. Pretty smart... A win-win for both patients and the pharmaceutical house. I hope this explains it for you.0August 2019 -
When I want to ask a question about kidney cancer for my husband the site only allows me to choose inflammatory breast cancer as my required topic, since my diagnosis was that problem. Is there a way to avoid that?0July 2019

Greg, on May 29, Shootinstar asked about cancer coming back. Part of your response was:
I hope you never have to consider what you will do when a relapse comes! How about instead of that, you think about how you are going to enjoy the life that has been given back to you? Where are you going to go, what are you going to do, what new hobbies are you going to learn? The possibilities are endless!
That was a really good response. It "speaks to me". I copied and pasted it in another place and will look at it often. Thank you. Really - thank you.0June 2019 -

Greg---leg/foot cramps is a sign that the Lipitor is damaging your body. It's been almost a year since you asked about COQ 10 that your doctor wanted you to take with your statin---There are other statins that are safer-lower dose like Simvastatin. Please contact your doctor-- listen to your body. I know that you over did it, but the cramps don't sound normal---I do hope that your taking your COQ 10, as your doctor recommended. .0April 2019

Greg, I hope this finds you well and Happy New Year. I have a patient with a diagnosis of tonsils cancer who has had chemo with radiation. He says that he finished treatment 7 weeks ago and still can't taste or smell, has some neuropathy and has ringing in his ears. How long before he can expect to get taste, hearing back and the ringing stops?0January 2019
