    hi Zoe,

just read your wall posts..I like what i am reading..please watch that Bonnie J. webinar I posted because its for all cancers. I think of you. I hope you get on top of this.. But watch how they say the body is fighting the cancer all the time.. if we can just give the immune system a boost to get the T cells to perk up they can kill anything in the body any kind of cancer. I hope the best for you.

    Hang in.

Hello, Zoe. How are you feeling post surgery? I've had you in my prayers. You cross my mind often. That's probably because you're brave enough to say that you're scared. It takes more courage to admit fear than it does to pretend like you can take anything thrown your way.

Hi Zoe- we haven't communicated in awhile! It sounds like your surgery all went ok... When is the next one scheduled? I hope you are able to get out a bit and enjoy the gorgeous fall foliage up there! If you can't live in FlL anymore... Gorgeous autumn leaves are a nice consolation! Hope you are doing well!

I see where you answered me. I am so sorry to hear the latest. If you didn't feel the way you do there would be something very wrong with you. Just don't give in to those feelings. You have steered a good course for so many of us.

Hi Zoe, i know surgery is hard BUT you do feel much better as you heal..But it takes a long time but you do get a great deal of your lung capacity back..more than you would have thought.

    Set up a Gmail account-email.
Then google setting up a google alert. Then set up a few like:
Clinical trials xyz cancer, immunotherapies xyz cancer etc. set up as m,any combos as you can think of surgery for xyz cancer.

I go to one of the best LC Dr's in the WORLD and I am teaching him with the material I send him..And he says so. It made a difference in my treatment. please do this. And hold on..Just a day at a time.

Hi, Zoe, I'm ba-a-ack! I hemorrhaged, my incisions are peeling and bleeding. This time it's not so sweet, forgive me. The hormone symptoms drive me nuts. But I'm here and extremely grateful to be here. HRU today, now?

Once they repair your lung the chances of it collapsing drop dramatically. Mine collapsed because I had blebs or thin spots on my lung. Just like a balloon it popped a deflated. Cause more than likely smoking. The night it happened was the last day I smoked. The Dr said without the surgery it was almost a guarantee that it would happen again. With the surgery 15%. When they do your surgery they add an "adhesive" to help hold the lung in place. The chest tubes are for drainage and to create pressure to hold your lung in place while it heals. I don't remember if it's +/- pressure.
I'm doing fine now except for cancer that developed in my right lung. Again more than likely caused from being a former smoker. For the time being the cancer is under control. I go in October for another scan to see where I stand. Be positive every thing will work out.

Hi Zoe, I saw one of your posts about collapsing one of your lungs during surgery. You won't feel a thing while your knocked out and when you wake up the incisions is what hurts and I didn't feel it was that bad. You'll have a couple drain tubes for a few days and it just feels a little weird when they take them out. A collapsed lung is MUCH worse when you're awake. I've had a few. My last one 3 1/2 years ago I thought I was having a heart attack. Once they told me what it was I relaxed a little bit. When they went in to repair it they cut out a very small section, put 300 staples in and what I jokingly refer to as a can of fix-a-flat. I was in ICU for 4 days but I only remember 2.
As long as you are knocked out you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Zoe, How are you feeling tonight? This will be my first experience with chemo. Last cancer (2004) I had only radiation, external and internal. Am I wrong or is the life fight against cancer more often than not the fight to keep going when so sick from chemo?

Hi Zoe: Starting Physical Therapy now. It is in conjunction with the Stars Program I told you about. 1st Accupuncture treatment shows promise with my Neuropathy, which is my worst debilitating problem currently. Hate Physical Therapy but if it helps, I will embrace it.

Now how are you coping? Hope the nervousness and anxiety is waning. Do not get on What next too much as I have way too many Dr's Appts. That seems to be my social life these days.

When you get a chance clue me in on your current status,
and most important , your frame of mind. Will try to help you, as much as I can.

    Hi Zoe,

I noticed you have a lung resection coming up & are worried about the chest tube? I had a surgical biopsy several years ago, as they were worried that spots in my lungs were metz from my rectal cancer (not, something completely different), It was done laprascopically, so there were only 3 small incisions. I had the tube in for 2 days, and it really wasn't bothersome at all. Admittedly, I had a morphine pump, but I didn't hardly use it at all, as I really wasn't in PAIN,,.it was more just that I was sore. I was able to get up & around & to the bathroom the day after surgery. Of course Peroll is right, sleep is impossible in a hospital...someone told me later to take soft foam earplugs to the hospital, which I did for my other surgeries & it DOES help. One thing to watch for, though....the hospital forgot to remove the stitches where the tube was, and sent me home with them it, and they drove me NUTS. They were in until my follow up the next week, and the surgeon was quite disgusted that they had not been removed before I was released...so make sure to ask about that. I can laugh now...Anyway, bless you, you will do fine.

Very impressed with program. It is a palliative program by a team of DR.s, whose goal is to make a patient better able to deal with their disease and the side effects of their treatments Already scheduled for a months worth of Accupuncture for my Neuropathy at a very reduced rate thanks to a grant they received. Then they set me up for specialized Physical Rehab at the Hosp.to get me moving so I do not sit and dwell on my problems. Also saw a Nutritionist who gave me coupons for Ensure, Boost and Carnation instant Bfast.. They also do pain management.

They were generally concerned with anything that was affecting me, even asking if I was able to buy my food and meds.

I think this is a move in the right direction and I suggest anyone who has a disease like cancer to check online and see if there is a Hosp. near them that has this program. My program is outlined at lee memorial hosp/star program.LMHS/stars program
