Good morning. I live just south of you in Alabama. I too have the same thing as you with the ALK mutation. I just finished 10 radiation treatments Last Monday and after my base line PET scan today, I start taking Crizotinib. I have such great hope that this will work for me. Hope you are doing well! I don't know if you are acquainted with the tnx support group on line. It has helped me a lot. I refuse to take drugs so I do acupuncture, vitamin B-12 and apply capsaicin. You also stay in touch. Funniest thing I just had a port installed for chemo and 2 of the nurses saw on my chart that I have tnx and they both also had it. What are the chances of that. There are something like 6500 known cases in the world.

Tvizme, love the way you post. Compared to what you are handling I've been thru nothing. Glad you are on line, sharing and talking about all things!

Tvizme, I wish I could be there to hold your hand, hug, let you cry or if you aren't of that ilk, just listen. That is a heavy decision, and since this is my first cancer experience, I have been doing research and alot of it has been speaking to folks about chemo. A large percentage would NOT touch it with a ten foot pole if given the option again. A couple of them were super bad off to begin with, have made it past their "due date" and even though it was puke and poop, they would do it again.
I am amazed that someone could even do chemo for a long time, course, I don't understand your diagnosis and am truly curious if you wanted to write on my wall... I am riddled with chest and lung and lymph and pleural effusion and had to change insurance in order to get my care all under one roof, so I have yet to see a medical onc, however have been biopsied, ct'd, petted, mri'd, x-ray'd, tatoo'd, turned radioactive, had a nice dose of hot iodine run through my system...it's all down to that day very soon that I will be told by another doc that chemo is the only thing I can do and I will need to do it fast. No surgery, no radiation for me, so I can related to any thing related to chemo questions.
Anyway, I have on and on disease...I just go on and on, oh, in reference to the surgical and radiology aspect of my tx, I have seen both doc's, I did not just arbitrarily decide not to have surgery or radiology...excuse me. Please write me and share your experience of living with cancer as a chronic illness, undergoing adjuvant therapy and now whether you plan to continue chemo as sort of a fail safe? Do I even have it close?
Like I said, I am curious and in addition, feel compassion and empathy for everyone here and extend my hand in friendship and a common need. None of us is free from needing love, compassion, unless they are sociopath,,,then, well maybe they are better off, hmm? Okay, I am tired.Good night and really hope to hear from you, either way I am sending oodles and oodles of loving white light and a huge box of prayer with your name on it.
