Hey there...I am on a different aromatase inhibitor, anastrozole, the generic of Arimidex...it will be three years in January since I started...initially there was some fatigue and nausea...within a month or so the hot flashes and night sweats started....these have both gotten better (nausea resolved very quickly, fatigue took a little longer but I had also just finished 33 radiation sessions so which came first: the chicken or the egg!)...it took about six months for the joint and muscle pains to start...my fingers are the most affected followed by my hips and knees...I do hand exercises I found for arthritis on the Mayo Clinic website which help a lot...I know that these side effects occur with all AIs and many change to different ones over time...speak with your oncologist if the effects are horrid....remember that side effects show the drug is working! Let me know if there are any specific questions. Best to you.

I think these feelings are quite normal and part of the journey. I cried every day for about four months until I couldn't stand it anymore and asked the onco for something to help me with the constant crying. He gave me meds which helped enormously. I only had to take them for a short time but it helped not to cry all the time. Have you talked to your doctors about this? Also, a support group, SW or therapist might be available in your area. Let us know how you are doing.

Hello and welcome, we are glad you found us. Please feel free to join in the conversations. Here is a link to our cancer dx page for your type of cancer. Take a look at it to get you started on some information. You will notice at the bottom of that page 4 of our active users who have had that journey already, you may wish to contact them for their experience and wisdom. Also, I encourage you to go to the questions page now by clicking on the questions tab at the top of the page and post what is the most pressing issue you have right now. This will introduce you to the community and get you started on the help you need right now.

There are also subtypes listed on this page to narrow down the type of cancer to match your dx.

Also, if you can take a few minutes and fill in some details of your journey so far, it will help others as they try to answer questions for you, it also helps others as they search through the data base to find someone like themselves. Confirming your email will allow you to receive updates and notices from the site when someone answers your questions or writes on your wall.

Thanks for being with us and let me know if I can help you find any information on the site. After you have an opportunity to look the site over and see what great things there are here, we encourage you to invite your friends, family or anyone you know that may be helped by the connections on WhatNext to join the site also.
