Hi NJ flower, I'm very sorry I have been negligent on my updates. My husbands cancer has recurred. He had a partial blockage last July where they removed 50-60 tiny tumors from his belly. Around 40-50 more are left. He was told that surgery may be difficult the next time he will have a blockage. After surgery, his CA marker was 9 in September. It is now slowly rising it was 20 last December 6. We are now seeing a Chinese doctor in Beijing who is helping him build his immunity. He just started taking the Chinese pills last week. I will keep you posted.0December 2015

Nj, I am scheduled for 6 months of chemo. So far so good. The nausea and tiredness are so far the worst of it. Not bad. You probably wouldn't start chemo until 4-6 weeks post op. You will need time to heal.0July 2014

hello!!! I am so glad you found this site, it is filled with amazing support and knowledge and experiences+++ I was recommended for the HIPEC. I chose to do it, no regrets what so ever!!! I now have been 3 months with no chemo, and so far I am holding my own!!! I know I am not cancer free, but it is not progressing, YEA!!! I will keep you in my prayers, you sound like you have a great oncology team to work with, ask lots of questions and remember "this too shall pass, a rainbow is always waiting on the other side of every storm" God Bless0June 2014

Hello! I was diagnosed with appendix cancer 11 years ago. Just wanted to say hello and to wish you well.0June 2014

Hi, njflower. I can write more now that I'm not on my phone. They've been treating Appendix Cancer for years at Sloan Kettering. I had metastatic mucinous adenocarcinoma of the appendix, and had my surgery and EPIC at MSK 7 years ago. I'm fine. The option for HIPEC at MSK is new - with this research study. However, HIPEC has been available through a few other medical centers/doctors for years. I was told that the processes were comparable, and MSK was closer to my home (only 175 miles) than any of the HIPEC drs. An added plus was having family in NYC, so my husband had a place to stay. I couldn't be more pleased with my choice to go to MSK. I had a tough time of it; cancer treatment isn't for wimps. Feel free to ask me any questions.
I'm currently in contact with 2 people who just went through the research protocol at MSK; I remain in close contact with my surgeon (Dr. Paty).0June 2014 -
Hello and welcome, we are glad you found us. Please feel free to join in the conversations. Here is a link to our cancer dx page for your type of cancer. Take a look at it to get you started on some information. You will notice at the bottom of that page 4 of our active users who have had that journey already, you may wish to contact them for their experience and wisdom. Also, I encourage you to go to the questions page now by clicking on the questions tab at the top of the page and post what is the most pressing issue you have right now. This will introduce you to the community and get you started on the help you need right now.

There are also subtypes listed on this page to narrow down the type of cancer to match your dx.
Also, if you can take a few minutes and fill in some details of your journey so far, it will help others as they try to answer questions for you, it also helps others as they search through the data base to find someone like themselves. Confirming your email will allow you to receive updates and notices from the site when someone answers your questions or writes on your wall.
Thanks for being with us and let me know if I can help you find any information on the site.
