I have signet ring cell carcinoma. Is this what you have? Mine will also never be cured. I'll be on chemo for the rest of my life. I start Monday.0November 2015

Sometimes we don't know how we touch people's lives. Even complete strangers. I wanted to let you know that even though you are a complete stranger, you have helped me just by being here. I don't come here often because for us it is easier to just not think about Cancer even though it is always in the back of my head lurking about. Sometimes when it seems really hard and I don't think I can hold it together, I come here and i reread your posts and I tell myself that if you can do this 12 years then so can we! Thanks for the inspiration.0August 2015

Thanks for your info on avastin. You made us feel better about trying it. The brochures they give you make the side effects sound horrible. I am so glad to see that you have done it long term. We are always afraid of what long term effects of chemo might be. Can I ask you how much yours spread and if you have pertionel seeding? Hearing that you were given 2 months and survived this long is so awesome, and I want the same for my husband. He was given 2 years and even though he feels good and we are both positive people, it is really hard to get that out of your head, especially since time is moving way too fast.0May 2015

Your story is inspiring and encouraging. What kind of chemo are you on now? Have you ever taken FOLFIRI with Avastan? My husband has recently switched to this since the FOLFOX Oxiplatin is no longer working. The Avastan side effects sound scary. Would love to hear someone that had positive results with it.0April 2015

Hi Jen! I just checked my wall & saw that you'd contacted me a month ago! Sorry I'm so out of it, LOL. I am the total antithesis of a 16-year-old who is glued to their cell phone! I LIKE being out of touch, LOL.
I'm doing well. I guess by now you've seen that Elvis was at my last Herceptin infusion this past Tuesday? It was great fun & almost all of the nurses gave me hugs before I left. Am trying to volunteer there, but the volunteer coordinator insists on vols wearing these icky forest green shirts/smocks/tops...and you KNOW they don't even have any sparkles or leopard fur on them!
So am hoping to convince them that my "schtick" is my costumes. Also, am going to be starting my reconstruction process (DIEP flap, which is complicated & takes 3 separate procedures) on 11/6. So I might not make it there as a volunteer until nearly Xmas. And I HOPE I make it then, because I have these 2 great wigs, one tinsel red the other tinsel green...
Hope you're doing well!0September 2013 -
This morning I've been sort of 'surfing' the what next site. I ended up reading about your journey! I'm amazed at what all you've been through. The fight for life that is in your soul is amazing! Thank you for sharing your experiences with all of us! I do hope that this note finds you being able to enjoy your home in the woods and the peace of nature you seem to love! I hope you will have blessings in abundance!0August 2013

Loved your latest post on my wall, Jen! Yes, it's amazing the degree to which people can twist "their God" to suit their own purposes, eh? I felt better today, but incredibly tired. A nap in the morning and one in the afternoon, yet I'm still ready to sleep tonight and it's only 5:30 pm. Neuropathy better today than yesterday, thankfully. Hope you are doing OK.0November 2012

Hi Jen: Haven't checked on you lately and thought you'd get a kick out of this. My husband & I do some mentoring at a church &YMCA run program for at-risk high school kids. When we went there on Tuesday we met a new "mentor" there--a flagrantly zealous guy whose sole purpose seems to be pushing his Bible into everyone's face. He had the audacity to say to my husband, "Why do you think God gave your wife cancer?" CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT? Of course, my husband attempted to set the guy straight, but you know the type; people like that only want to preach at you; the don't want to listen. Still, the very NERVE of him! GRRRR. (He must be a whole lot of fun to live with, LOL~)0November 2012

Wow, jenpwrs--I read your journey and you really have gone through it all, haven't you, kid? I hope you are feeling better now.
Thanks for the validation about my Atheism--I have had it up to here with people trying to shove their beliefs into my head...when really, I'm quite happy with my thoughts as is. Having any sort of a "higher power" makes things a lot easier for a person--it can be "God's way" when bad things happen, or "God has a reason" for things that are hard to explain.
I like to think, though, that EACH OF US is responsible for much of what happens on earth and that some things just happen and cannot be explained. I also believe that you should try to leave a positive mark whenever & wherever possible.
You must be terrifically strong. Your journey makes me realize how lucky I am...and for me to quit my bXXXXing! My only problems right now are a bloody nose, cracked & bleeding finger tips and my errant port--which right now is somewhere where my breasts used to be!
Take care & keep in touch! I certainly admire your tenacity about finishing your degree! ydnar2xer0November 2012
