Call me sometime and I will tell you more of what I found out. 714 932 5009. Email litlady@juno.com. I do not believe any surgery may be necessary and certainly not mastectomy! I can give you a list of books resources etc. DCIS is in my understanding not immediately dangerous ie you have time. Even my cousin a radiologist said he did not think I had anything to worry about. I am appalled at how little women know about this condition. Ie it is not necessarily cancer and may not require any treatment. Lots of stuff in news about over diagnosis and fear tactics. If you are strong and willing to find out the whole truth about this crazy cancer situation in the US contact me. If you think I am out there post your diagnosis and questions on donna's journey. A website. Check out Marnie Clark's website. I can Also tell you my story. But please do not fear. You have time!

I've just received my diagnosis a week ago today. Its only been a.year and a half since I completed treatment for lymphoma. I have an appt Monday to see a surgeon. I know I have ductal and nodular cancer. The cultures have not come back testing HER2. I am 65. You now have my extent of knowledge on breast cancer. I followed and participated on this site during and after my lymphoma. This site and the encouragement from everyone here got me thru some.very rough times. Praying the best for you!!!

Hi, read the book, the breast reconstruction guidebook 3rd ed. by Kathy Steligo. It really explains surgery, before, during and after. Then it tells you all the ways for reconstructive surgery. You will be well informed when you talk to the surgeon and ps. It won't be so overwhelming! Thoughts and prayers, Lynn

Hi, since you are newly dx and Stage 0 make sure you read the book, The Breast Reconstruction Guidebook, 3rd ed. by Kathy Steligo. It will really help you be informed when you talk to the surgeon and ps. It tells you about surgery before during and after and then explains the many ways you can do reconstruction and then you can talk with them in a way that they wont be able to overwelm you! Try to save more skin during surgery because maybe reconstruction will be better! Prayers and thoughts, Lynn

Your diagnosis sounds almost exactly like the one I received one year ago....DCIS, stage zero. I am 63. I had a single mastectomy and did not need radiation or chemo. My 1 year check is next week. You can follow my journey on this site, and I will be following you as well. Best of luck! I'll be hoping you have the same positive outcome!

Good luck to you minka. I just had my second cocktail and it's not as bad as some say. I had a power port inserted to save my veins and it has made a big difference. Take care and move forward. I call it "a year of inconvenience......this too shall pass." Feel the hugs; we are in this together.

Welcome to the site. I am sure that you will find this a friendly place to come when you need someone to talk to. We are all in the same boat when it comes to emotions and feelings about our health. Just know that no question is to silly to ask and if you need to vent because you are having a bad day, we are here for you. I hope you find this site as helpful to you as it has been for me.

Hello and welcome, we are glad you found us. Please feel free to join in the conversations. Here is a link to our cancer dx page for your type of cancer. Take a look at it to get you started on some information. You will notice at the bottom of that page 4 of our active users who have had that journey already, you may wish to contact them for their experience and wisdom. Also, I encourage you to go to the questions page now by clicking on the questions tab at the top of the page and post what is the most pressing issue you have right now. This will introduce you to the community and get you started on the help you need right now.

    https://www.whatnext.com/conditions/cancer/breast-cancer

There are also subtypes listed on this page to narrow down the type of cancer to match your dx.

Also, if you can take a few minutes and fill in some details of your journey so far, it will help others as they try to answer questions for you, it also helps others as they search through the data base to find someone like themselves. Confirming your email will allow you to receive updates and notices from the site when someone answers your questions or writes on your wall.

Thanks for being with us and let me know if I can help you find any information on the site. After you have an opportunity to look the site over and see what great things there are here, we encourage you to invite your friends, family or anyone you know that may be helped by the connections on WhatNext to join the site also.
