I'm still navigating this and just read your update. Thanks so much for adding it. I'm sorry your recon has been so bad. I'm told that it depends on the type of recon as well as the ps. I'm convinced the ps has a signature style and if you go against the style you're screwed. Both my breasts have scars almost full around the base as well as full up to where the nipple would have been. But the worst part is the skin is pleated. Yes pleated. It looks like I have Granby pants on my chest and it has some webbing now under the scar such concerns me. Ugh. I'd like to stay up with your progress

Hope you got some answers about your reconstruction. I had DIEP in Nov 2013. I was afraid I would reject an implant on my radiated side and didn't want to have continuous surgeries. I am still healing, but very happy with my results. May not need any revisions, which would be great!

Hi, webbing is like a valley between the two breasts that has skin on each side that keeps it from being flat. My PS does not know what to do right now. He says my skin will continue to stretch so it could be ok down the road. He is not happy, but I can live with it, anything is better than the mastectomy scar. He does not want to go into the implant area with the next surgery because he wants to avoid infection. Hope things go well for you. Hugs!

Hi, Evelyn. I'm 66, also have DCIS, diagnosed in April 2013, lumpectomy in May and then bilateral mastectomy in July. The lumpectomy didn't get all the cancer and I opted for the double mastectomy because I didn't want to have to go thru this ever again, also decided against reconstruction. I live in Aurora, CO so we're in the same area. I may have something similar in the red and painful skin since my surgery. Surgeon said it was dry skin, but it's more of a nerve pain. Some days I can barely stand for any clothes to touch my chest. I've tried aloe with lidocaine and it does relieve the pain, but is hardly a cure. I hope they figure out what's causing your redness and you feel much better soon! This is the pits, isn't it?
