Hello, my dear. I know you're super busy right now. But I'm hoping all this "private/not private" talk hasn't scared you away! Just know there are people here who are thinking of you and sending love and strength to you both. Warm wishes and soft hugs!

I'm sorry. I feel like I ran out on you last night/this A.M. without even asking how you're doing. I apologize for that. I haven't been sleeping very well. Rain has returned to the Monterey Bay and being a "human barometer", I'm feeling every old athletic injury/surgery site, bone, joint etc in NOT a very good way. But I know it will pass with time; it always does. So honestly...how are you? And Virgil? Hugs. <3. Btw... I used to stay on "Kakalina St." In Kailua-Kona, Hawai'i. :-)

I read your post about your "just weeks" news and also all the responses to it (lots in those posts for me, too). I"m adding my post in hopes it can add a little support to you by knowing there are people that have you in their thoughts and prayers. It's heart wrenching to me when I read the you 'are scared' (I hope you have a personal support group who can help you with that feeling). I worry about how my own wife feels about my diagnosis. I was told "...less than a year" 5 months ago and many of my church 'family' and friends have been praying for me and I've never believed more in the power-of-prayer than I do now. My treatments have been as successful as possible and are buying me time - hopefully more than my oncologist expected. My 'incurable' diagnosis has caused me to live in the present and be thankful for all my blessings. it's also caused me to not hold back in displaying my love for my wife and son as often as I can. Please don't underestimate the benefits of lots of hugs throughout the day for your husband - they make me feel so good when I get them. I used to think/say that I want my 'passing' to be sudden, but a pro to my diagnosis is that I'm consciously working to leave nothing 'unsaid'. Again, please know that there are people that have you in their thoughts and prayers and truly want you to feel comforted by them. Pause in your day when you can and think about the 'comfort/support' that is being sent your way, Kakalina.

I too have stage 4, however I tested positive for the alk gene and went on the new chemo pill Xalkori. I have recently been removed from the "dying list" so do not give up, insist on genetic testing. My oncologist's NP snuck and did it, after the Dr said it was too expensive.

Hi, I know there is a lot going on and most of it scary. Please do not look at stage IV cancer as a sign its over. Treatment of lung cancer is one of the most treatable cancers to have! STAGE IV IS SURVIVABLE. Please make sure it is an oncologist you are talking with! Your husband and you are in my thoughts and prayers for peace, comfort, and knowledgeable doctors.

Hello and welcome, we are happy to have you with us. Please feel free to join in the conversations. Here is a link to our cancer dx page for your type of cancer. Take a look at it to get you started on some information. You will notice at the bottom of that page 4 of our active users who have had that journey already, you may wish to contact them for their experience and wisdom. Also, I encourage you to go to the questions page now by clicking on the questions tab at the top of the page and post what is the most pressing issue you have right now. This will introduce you to the community and get you started on the help you need right now.

    https://www.whatnext.com/conditions/cancer/lung-cancer

There are also subtypes listed on this page to narrow down the type of cancer to match your dx.

Also, if you can take a few minutes and fill in some details of your journey so far, it will help others as they try to answer questions for you, it also helps others as they search through the data base to find someone like themselves. Confirming your email will allow you to receive updates and notices from the site when someone answers your questions or writes on your wall.

Thanks for being with us and let me know if I can help you find any information on the site. After you have an opportunity to look the site over and see what great things there are here, we encourage you to invite your friends, family or anyone you know that may be helped by the connections on WhatNext to join the site also. Just click this link to invite them to join. http://www.whatnext.com/recruit-a-friend
