    Hi Lilcat,
I'm glad to find someone whose diagnosis and experiance is very close to mine. I also am stage 1A clear cell and thought I was going into surgery for fibroids. Though, because of inconclusive imaging, the Drs. did say that there was a very small chance that what they thought was a fibroid could be ovarian and an even smaller chance it could be cancer. So I was somewhat forewarned. I only had one surgery as I was lucky enough to be at a large teaching hospital with huge resources. A preliminary pathology was done while I was in surgery and when it came back cancer, a gyno-oncology team came in and performed the hysterectomy and debulking. Unfortunately, I had complications after surgery; small bowel obstruction and TIA stroke. I try to find the upside of everything and the delay for Chemo caused by the complications allowed me lots of time for research into clear cell. If you are interested, I can give you the sites with the most pertinent information.
Are your Drs recomending Chemo? There is alot of controversy about it for our stage of clear cell. I did finally make the decission to have chemo, but I will never know if it was the right decission. I'm currently on the third infusion of the first cycle (4-6 cycles) of a dose dense regime of Carbo and Taxol. It is not fun!
Stage 1A clear cell comes with it's own unique set of problems and decisions that some Drs and other cancer survivors tend to downplay as they consider us "lucky". I know it could be worse, but I still don't think "lucky" and "you have cancer" should be used in the same sentance.
Hugs, prayers and happy thoughts for your journey.

WOW. I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW SIMILAR WE ARE. I HAD A BAD FEELING ABOUT MY LOCAL GYNECOLOGIST. SO TOOK MYSELF TO UCLA. MY UCLA GYNOCOLOGIST WORKED OUT SURGERY PLANS A, B C, D, E DEPENDING ON WHAT SHE FOUND WHEN SHE GOT INSIDE. PLAN 'A' WAS MORCELATION. THANKFULLY, SHE CHOOSE TO MOVE ON TO PLAN 'B' AND EVENTUALLY PLAN 'E'. I'M SO GLAD THAT YOU GOT YOURSELF TO SLOAN KETTERING AND THAT YOUR PROGNOSIS IS STILL SO GOOD.
I'M WISHING YOU ALL MY BEST. WHEN DO YOU START CHEMO?

lilcat, welcome. My family found this site months ago when I was diagnosed with IIIC ovarian cancer. Your IA diagnoses means your cancer was caught early and your changes of a forever remission go way up. Don't know what your medical team's game plan is but do know it is doable. Share your experiences and ask questions or vent. We are all here for you. Take care, talk anytime.
