Hi Virgo 65. A book you may find helpful is anti-cancer a new way of life by David Servan Schreiber M.D. PhD. It covers his story on battling brain cancer but also has a few chapters devoted to diets that specifically fight certain types of cancer including breast cancer.

I've personally eliminated all dairy, as well as anything white such as flour, sugar and salt. I only eat red meat once or twice a month and only when I buy grass fed beef. I only eat organic chicken and organic eggs. I eat mostly a plant-based diet. Organic veggies and about two servings of fruit a day (fruits contain natural sugar but still increase your glucose levels). Every morning when I get up I take the juice of one lemon in water and drink it down it helps keep the body alkaline level normal and reduces acidity. Cancer thrives in an environment high in acid. Green tea is awesome too as it has cancer fighting properties and is also a strong immune system booster. Good luck to you making changes for a healthier lifestyle! By the way I'm a Virgo also so you can call me Virgo 63 : ) Karen

    Hey Virgo-
Just saw where you are having your yearly mammogram in August. I wish I lived closer, I would go with you. Please try not to worry. It has been over 4 years and I still get a little nervous when it is time for mine. But I put my faith and trust in GOD and my oncologist and they have not let me down. Please remember, that there are lots of people here if you want to talk. :)

Hi Virgo65. You asked about Tamoxifen...my experience was awful, one day I was okay the next day I went in and it was as if someone had sucked the life out of me, my eyes were hollow and my family was worried sick, my blood pressure plummeted and was rushed to E.R. Where they helped get my blood pressure back up to where it should be, also mouth sores are awful.
    Good Luck to you!

I was diagnosed in October of 2012 In fact it was Happy Birthday you have cancer ! A huge shock as I had no symptoms and they found it through my annual mammogram . I have had a mastectomy still recovering from that ,declined the offer of chemo and radiation much to the surprise of the Drs
As I am definitely not a quitter I did accept Arimedex as my
treatment . Which I am very happy with ,I have changed my eating habits , dealing with my stress with a excellent counsellor and researching the net for support . I see here Marnie C is part of the team .Her website is amazing and she has literally changed my life . I am searching for quality of life not necessarily
quantity and with my faith in tact I am finding joy in my journey . For me cancer has been a wake up call not a death sentence . Hugs form Australia .

Hi! I was diagnosed at the end of April and just had a mastectomy and DIEP reconstruction done, still waiting for drains to be removed. I usually am on here every other day or so, just to see if there's anything I can do to help someone else as I heal. There are alot of people willing to help you and it eases the stresses of some of the things, hearing others remarks of how they go through it. I'm so looking forward to the flat stomach with the tummy tuck. If there's anything I can do let me know.

If you see any questions you can answer, please do, and also please feel free to join in the conversations. Here is a link to our cancer dx page for your type of cancer.
