Do the chemo. My dr sd a cancer cell can be moving around other parts of my body and w/out chemo it would come back. Chemo was not so bad for me. They have great anti-nausea drugs and a shot that prevents low white cells. I was able to carry on and work w/out much problem. God bless you.0August 2013

Hey Tiffany- My name is Jen, I'm 36 and also have IDC (stage 2a). Looks like you were just recently diagnosed. I just wanted to encourage you to be kind to yourself and to be positive. The hardest time is from initial diagnosis to getting your final pathology. For me that was just over one month! When I say be kind to yourself I mean stay off the internet and don't allow yourself to do any "stinkin' thinkin'"!
I was diagnosed 1.14, has my double mastectomy 2.15 and ended chemo 6.21. I started radiation 7.15. I started a new job on 1.21 (they were totally sure it wasn't gonna be cancer... which is why I accepted the job - UGH). All is well with me though . I have a blog at lykehearmeroardude.wordpress.com - please reach out if I can be of any assistance. This is a great website!0July 2013 -
Hi, TiffanyJ. I wrote back yesterday evening (you had asked if I had chemo and also mentioned Tamoxifen). I don't see my post on your wall or my wall. Did you see it? I'm wondering if I didn't post it correctly or...?0July 2013

Hi TiffanyJ, I just saw that you are following me now...please let me know if there is anything I can help with...ultimately all decisions are yours but sometimes having others weigh in can help clarify things a bit but even then, we can do the same things in treatment and react differently...be sure you trust your team completely, if not get a second opinion, and then "go with it"...I have faith that you will do the right thing for you...sending positive thoughts and prayers your way...fondly, Gabba aka Grace0July 2013

Hi, TiffanyJ. I see you are newly diagnosed. July 28 will be my three year anniversary of when I was diagnosed. I remember it well - the shock. I'm glad you found this web site. There are a lot of great folks here - very kind and willing to help. Take care.0July 2013

Hi TiffanyJ,
Just wanted to say hi and that I hope you are doing well during this very stressful time. It's alot to absorb and none of the decisions are easy.
I had a lumpectomy, followed by a bilateral mastectomy, when they found additional tumors. I don't regret having the lumpectomy because it felt like the right thing to do given what we knew at the time. But I did end up having more surgery a few weeks later, which was difficult. 2 months later - I'm now relieved that I know I am cancer free and won't have to worry about recurrence.
Good luck to you and please reach out anytime.0July 2013 -
Hi TiffanyJ,
I would have asked what the emergency was. Is the cancer moving so fast that you HAVE TO OPERATE NOW? Can it wait a couple months? Then I would have spent time learning about my options not taking their word but having more control of the situation. Don't get me wrong, I NOW believe they did what was in my best interest, but too many friends heard me say, "I'd rather be dead than treat this" ......and it was because my head wasn't wrapped around it. Never again will they move so quickly. When I talked with all my docs about it, they pretty much told me, "that's the way it is and people just want the cancer out". It is one of the biggest psychological mistakes I've ever made and paid a big price for it. Thanks for asking.0July 2013 -
Hi Tiff. Glad we are following each other. I always like to see what other people are doing with their lives. Love your picture of your cat by the way. I have a little Shih-Tzu Lapsa mix and she is the light of my life. My husband's too. She makes us laugh and keeps us going. Have a good day.0July 2013

Welcome to the site. I think that you will find this a friendly place to come when you need to sound off or vent from anger. We are all here to listen and help, if we can, because at some point and time in each of our lives we have been in your situation. Please don't be afraid to ask questions either. No question on this site is silly or dumb. We all have questions we would like other opinions on or answers to. There are so many nice people here that it has helped me get through my fears I had when I was DX'd with DCIS. Good luck in the future.0July 2013
