When I realized in January what could possibly be happening to me by researching the Mayo Clinic website, I mentally started preparing myself for surgery. My gyn sent me immediately after my ultrasound and CA125 test to a gyn oncologist surgeon. That made sense to me as my number, though not very high, 61, plus the appearance of tumors, told me from my research that surgery would be the order of the day first and foremost. So when I me the surgeon, I was ready THAT DAY for surgery and told him to take out anything I didn't need especially the appendix as I am 62 and my son just had an emergency appendectomy in January. I didn't want to have repeat surgery down the road for that, so I brought it up. As it turns out, but this is a very good surgeon, he found nodules on the appendix which were not cancerous and took it out along with a complete hysterectomy. No tumors were found to be cancerous, with the exception of a fallopian tube, and cancer cells from a pelvic wash. Had the surgery in February and began chemo 2 weeks later. 6 chemos down and 12 to go. I will be half-way through at my daughter's wedding in May. Just trying to keep it together until after then and then get out more. I do not regret any thing as of yet in my or the doctor's decision making process. It is unfortunate you were not informed as to the potential of an appendectomy, but I sure am glad that they took out mine.0April 2014

Thank you for choosing to follow me. Looks like our journey started about the same time. I had debulking surgery on Dec. 6, 2013. I was in the hospital for a week, came home and had to return within 2 days because of an infection. They had to insert another 2 JB tubes and that landed an additional week in the hospital. The good news is that I was home in time to spend the holidays with my family and grandkids.
I had my first round of Chemo on Jan. 13. Lots of leg pain 2-3 days after. The 3rd day being the worst. But each day after that they felt better and I feel really good at this point. I will have my 2nd round of Chemo on Feb. 4th.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I do not mind to share any of my experiences.
We are strong women and we will get through this!!!
God Bless You!!!0January 2014 -

Sweetmarie1, welcome to the WhatNext site. I can imagine you are still trying to make sense of everything. Shortly after my diagnosis I found myself implanted with a chest port, then two cycles of chemo to shrink my tumors, then onto debulking surgery. Am currently back in chemo with hopefully only two cycles to go. We can all identify we you and the battle you have ahead but it is doable.I had many questions and found not only the answers but support and encouragement. I have also heard Epsom salts helps with the bone pain. Everyone is different with side effects. I had one day of terrible bone pain and took a benedryl to relieve it. Hair loss comes with the chemo. My hair grew thinner and thinner, some people lose it faster . Eventually I had my son-in-law shave it off,now have several hats but some people get wigs. Good news is that it will grow back after chemo and I have seen women with beautiful heads of hair. Stay strong you can do this. Keep us informed, share and vent when needed. Take care.0January 2014
