So glad that darned obstruction passed! I am also on a low fiber diet, and I take lots of myralax. Do you think any of your pain was caused by the obstruction?

I read a good book recently called Cancer Chronicles by George Johnson - which explains just how random cancer actually is and how - apart from smoking - the causes of cancer are not well known at all. I agree - there are lots of reasons to lead a healthy lifestyle - the biggest on for me is that I feel better if I eat well, but unfortunately healthy lifestyle is not a guarantee against cancer.

I felt the same way until it occurred to me that maybe my healthy lifestyle delayed the inevitable It would have been much tougher to have my cancer when my kids were younger or I wasn't established yet in my career. i was also glad that I wasn't guilt ridden with feelings of "if only.........". Lastly, i started my treatment on much better grounds than if I had not been leading a healthy lifestyle which means my (and your) chance of cure is higher. Good luck going forward.

Best of luck with your treatment and recovery. I'm a 61 year old female with stage 3a colon cancer. Had surgery and six months of chemo. Won't get more scans until February. My treatment was complicated and delayed by the death of my husband. So it was a tough year in 2013. I hope this year is better for both of us.

Oh I'm so so sorry. Like my post said I started off with a stage III diagnosis. It went away and then it came back. I had a bunch of tiny tiny tumors in my liver with the largest being 1 cm. no signs of spread anywhere else. The after just 6 sessions of chemo and avastin the tumors seemed to be starved out. They didn't she on the scan. But we went ahead and did yet anther full 6 sessions. This time they are gone again. Fried them pretty good. He said I wasn't a candidate for surgery but I was foolish enough to not even meet with a surgeon since my original surgeon had retired. Anyway, I've been NSD since October which was a miracle. I have a scan tomorrow. Saw my dr Friday and he is already planning for my next treatment, but he says "that's if the scan shows growth" your last scans and bloodwork look great!" of course the last CEA and full panel was from November 26. So who knows. I don't feel like he really cares that much. He seems to change his plans for treatment each time I see him. I think I'm going to switch to another dr in the practice that has more of a caring reputation. Sorry for rambling. Just looking for someone who is the same boat so we can keep each other updated and strong. I didn't mean to come across as pushy or nosy.

I was asking because I'm trying to locate someone who has the specific issues I have. I have it no where but my liver. And of course it was gone or could not be seen as of October. You and I have that in common that we have multiple spots on out liver. Have you had a scan since treatment? Also Did they tell you that they hope for you to be a surgery patient in the future? Have you had Amy breaks from the chemo? Is it every 2 weeks?.

Hi, thanks for responding to my question. Do yu mind sharing more no about your diagnosis? I was diagnosed last March. I had 12 sessions but then the mets were gone with avastin. I'm afraid they are back but I haven't had any meds except avastin since October. Did you have one tumor in our liver or several?
