Hi, AlizaMLS. You know how you kind of get used to seeing certain people post? I've been catching up on the daily digests and realized that I hadn't seen much from you. Then I saw in a recent post that you mentioned that you are dealing with some difficult family issues. I just wanted to say that I hope you're okay and I'm thinking of you.0June 2013

Hi, AlizaMLS. I'm woefully behind on some of my WhatNext digests. : ( How are you doing after your fall? How is your nose - and the rest of you? I hope you have been healing well. Thinking of you. Take care.0June 2013

Hi Aliza. I noticed you started following me and thought I'd pop in. I knew your daughter is an EMT. I missed that her ambulance was hit by a drunk driver. How's she doing? Happy thoughts for her recovery.0May 2013

Thanks for your answer. I totally understand, but didn't realize. I don't remember who Carm is but I will try to find her.
I'm sorry to hear of your daughter's injuries. It's hard to see our children in such difficult situations. Best of luck to both of you.0May 2013 -
Aliza - I am so sorry to see that your daughter, has suffered such painful injuries. I will be praying for her recovery.0May 2013

Hi Aliza,
I posted a question several days ago about how to appropriately take blood pressure on a patient after bi-lateral MX and sentinel node removal. Do you think you could check it out on my wall and give me your professional opinion? I would really appreciate it.
It's great to have you on board. :-)

Hi Aliza, thank you so much for your comments on my wall about my art. I hope you are doing well. we are the same age - this april will be two years since my surgery and the had chemo and radiation, following my herceptin. Feeling good and making art, as you can see. I see that you are a medical librarian and wanted to let you know about my children's book (or was that what you were commenting on?) In any event I have a blog for my art, and one for our book as well. www.nancihersh.blogspot.com and www.butterflykissesbook.blogspot.com
Take care of yourself.0March 2013 -
Thank you for sharing your difficult story. I think it is strange too that the oncologist din't tell us at his last visit that he was in stage IV because prior to the chemo he was in stage 1A. I know if it was me, I would want to know so I could get things in order and live out my life to the fullest. But he is a different bird. He doesn't plan anything but he is a fighter. Perhaps I should ask a clergy member.
4 years ago my father was hospitalised in ICU for 2 weeks, they told us his liver was gone...not from drinking but from a disease they told him he had about 6 months. I remember how brave he was and as it turned out, after getting a second opinion from the University of Cincinnati he was told that his liver was not that bad at all! In fact he's in better health than he ever was!
I guess you just never know.0April 2013 -
Thank you Aliza for your input. I will check out the web sites. 7.5 months old is my age from my bone marrow transplant. Date of transplant is considered your new birthday. Thanks0April 2013

Hi Aliza,
I read in one of your replies to a question regarding your oncotype number being good, so no need for chemo. Do you mind if I ask what your score was? I just received my oncotype score and it was what they call the gray area...not low, but not high either. My oncologist explained the recurrence rate in the report and I have to make a decision on chemo or not. I'm trusting God will give me a word as what I need to do.0April 2013 -
FYI - I live in a DC suburb and worked at a couple of different labs at the NIH (one doing alzheimers research, another doing malaria and other parasitic disease research. Not a scientist, a secretary - plenty of articles crossed my desk, both published and unpublished. I did some amount of editing on the neuroscience stuff. And I have a couple of friends who are retired medical librarians - now both retired.
I'm a fairly active reader (prefer audiobooks). I enjoy "researching" the books and authors and sometimes have come up with fascinating sites. Currently reading the Stone Cutter by Abraham Verghese - his life is as fascinating as his novel.
Also I'm an avid scrabble player (sadly not at professional level.) One of the things that has helped me tremendously is my Words with Friends iPhone app when I can't get out to a virtual scrabble game. I usually have abouu 10-12 games going - most with strangers. I know a lot of people can't afford that wonderful iPhone toy, but thanks to the generosity of my children I have one. Even though I fought it initially, and know I don't use it to capacity it has become my great friend - especially waiting for all those medical appts.
Bored you enough - back to my knitting! Which is one reason I like audiobooks.0March 2013 -
This is not at all relevant to me as I have only had about 3 manicures in my life - one for each of my children's weddings. But I think you are super to do the researching here and posting.
You are a great resource - plus I suspect you love to do the
researching....a person after my own heart. I happen to have has zero professional creds but spends hours at the computer "researching" and coming up with some excellent stuff. By the way, I tend to keep my distance from cancer and medical stuff - I want to feel as "normal" as possible. Thank you for being here.0March 2013 -
Thank you so much for taking the time to check the nail salons. Once during a snowstorm they had me remove them myself - long story. I wasn't so good at it but my sister is an RN and a nail diva. I am pretty sure my salon will sell me the remover - I've gone there for about 10 years and having my sister help me. Oddly enough my oncology doctors and nurses don't seem to understand what I am talking about. None of their nails are even painted lol!0March 2013

Got your email. Thanks for the comment. I don't try to impose my feelings on any one but I've learn so much from other ppl's perspectives. So I just put out what I know or experienced, or was told to me. Hopefully some other person will get something out of my experiences. I think you should Always , always, check with your doctor with any questions. But if we didn't talk to each other some of us wouldn't ask our doctors any questions at all.0March 2013

Thanks AlizaMLS for your experience and wisdom. I've already gotten two new great resources I didn't know about from your posts - CancerCare and goodreads.com. I will definitely check them out!0March 2013

Dear AlizaMLS,
Thank you very much for your kind words. The doctor who did my moms surgery was an oncologist, and he has given us a referral for a chemotherapy doctor, but like I said before she wants to come back to be with us. So thats why I'm looking for an experienced colon cancer oncologist and if they speak Spanish that would be great. My two options are the Levine Cancer Institute and the Presbyterian Hospital.0March 2013 -

Thank you for your kind words! Yes, it was certainly a shock to find cancer at my age but technically speaking, Hodgkin's lymphoma is common in my age group. Actually I am looking for some books in general on cancer to read through my journey; do you have any suggestions? I'm taking the semester off of school right now to deal with the chemo so I've got lots of free time on my hands!0February 2013
