To answer your question, they told me the tumor size, but I forgot that immediately! Thank you, pain meds for the memory gaps. I did not even look at the scar for weeks afterward. Now, my sizable scar and I are as one and we are ok. I left the tumor at the hospital and will not give it any more power in my head. I hope you are doing well today and that treatment is going well.

Thank you. My tumor was 11 x 10.6 x 13.6 a month latter it was 8.2 x 7 x 5. My doctor is a oncologist surgeon. There are no GIST specialist here in Louisiana. He is also in his 60's but he is very good I heard. I am glad to hear you are doing good.

Hello I found out I have GIST of the stomach in March 2014. I believe I had it for years as I have been sick a lot. The tumor is 7 inches and is attached or pushing against other organs. I have been on Gleevic for 2 months now in hopes that it shrinks the tumor than they will do surgery. They say I may lose my whole stomach. I have had a CT scan after 1 month and the tumor shrank but than the next month no change. I am frightened and do not know what to expect. My body hurts all over and it's hard to do my normal activities. I am also unable to sleep afraid I may not wake up. I live alone and have no family in the state I live in. My sister's are coming from MI and FL when I have surgery. I'm hoping they stay longer than 2 weeks. Can you please tell me about your surgery? Did you lose a lot of weight? When we're you able to eat solid foods?

Congrats on returning to work! Best wishes as you recover from the surgery, which I am told will cause twinges and other pains for a year. My treatment was surgery, as well. No other treatment recommended for my adenocarcinoma, small intestine. Let's all hang in there!

Hello. I don't think I have been ;here before. This is part of my story. In 2011 I had cronic abdomen pain. The doctor's office I went to grew tired of me and couldn't figure it out. After being told not to call for four days I woke one morning to feeling cold and lethargic. After trying to warm up with electric blanket, hot shower and sitting in front of a gas fire place. I was shaking uncontrolably. I decided to go to the Salem Hospital emergency room. My wife Margo drove me there. It was a stormy morning and still dark. It's kind of a blure. When I went to step out of the car, someone said you are not going anywhere and wheeled me in in a wheel chair. There I had X-rays and had to drink this awful stuff called Crystal Light with contrast. The head of the trama department Dr. Van Der Haden did emergency surgery. I had gone septic and they said hours to live. What was thought of at first a neurofibroma a condition which I also have turned out to be GIST in the Duyiduium (which is misspelled here). I have had subsequent surgeries on my liver February 2012 and another part of my abdomen January 2012. These were done at OHSU Kinght Cancer Institure by Dr. Billingsley. Dr. Henrich did not think Gleevic would work on me because of the neurofibromatosa. In April 2014 he changed his mind and I am taking Gleevic now. I have somehow have survived all this and am continuing to go running. All this has given me a new respect to be alive and living in general. I live because Dr. Van Der Haden saved my life.
