The Neulasta shot was easy to take. It's to encourage bone marrow to produce whit cells. They say the shot contributes to the bone pain you have but it will help with white blood cells. I took Vit B 6, B 12, Vit D with Oncologist approval all thru chemo. Red cells stayed up and white cells. Finished chemo January/2014. Scan in February was NED. Saw Oncologist this week. Said he saw and felt nothing. Did blood work. Told me I looked dehydrated to drink more fluids and to take calcium. Next appt. is n August for scan and Dr. visit. I did not have radiation. Can't do internally, vagina has shrunk. He told me external would do too much damage. Remember, I'm old enough to be your Mother (how is she doing?). My Internist told me the other day he didn't know "whether I would make it through the treatments, but here you are, laughing." Feel so fortunate right now. Need to build up strength. Finger tips numb. Neuropathy in feet. How is chemo treating you? Don't get dehydrated. Drink, drink. I know things can turn on a dime but today I'm out playing ball w/dogs and fertilizing my roses. How glorious is that?

Hello, I see your diagnosis changed from stage I to III. Big difference as far as treatment is concerned. My friend had stage I, hysterectomy and done. I had stage IIIC and I had the works. The chemo is tough, but take whatever meds they recommend for nausea (before you need them). I was extremely sore from the chemo, and no amount of pain meds helped that. I used a heating pad and took warm baths. It was only bad for 3-5 days after chemo, then I started to recover and was able to eat and drink.

Hi Randelicious. Welcome to What Next. As you've seen, there are lots of great people here. If you have any questions, please use the question tab above -- that way the entire network will have access & you'll get a quicker response. I see you are having issues w/some anxiety. A lot of us have taken or are taking some sort of anti-anxiety meds. It's not something you should be ashamed of. A cancer diagnosis is scary! I myself have taken Ativan. It helped me. Make sure you let your oncology team know how you're feeling. I was diagnosed w/stage IV endometrial cancer back in July 2012 -- I'm not scared anymore, but boy howdy! And anxiety is like any other side effect you may experience. If you have nausea, they give you meds to help counteract it. If you have pain, they give you pain killers. Anxiety is no different. Hang in there. Ask questions. Come here to vent. We'll listen. Wishing you all the best.

Please don't be scared. I had 6 chemo treatments of carbo/taxol and survived it. No radiation, Dr. said too hard on my body. Couldn't do internal rads because vagina shrinking, outside the one too hard. I'm 73 yrs. old. Other than usual old lady complaints no health problems. Hair started coming out about 10 days after 1st treatment, went to hairdresser had head shaved. Am. cancer Society Site sponsors site called TLC, you can order scarves, hats, wigs. I never bought a wig, lots of scarves, especially sleep hats ( head will get cold). My hair is coming back. Clear with your Oncologist, I took Vit. B 6 and B 12 never had transfusions, blood held. No nausea but you will have meds for that if needed. Strange changes in what food I wanted to eat. Spent weeks eating baked potatoes w/ butter & sour cream. The worst side effects for me were body aches, pains starting about 48 hours after chemo lasting several days. I went into this w/neuropathy and chemo made it really bad, but I did this. Took a lite morphine and had oxycodone for break thru pain meaning when it really gets out of control. Dr. cut chemo dose after first two chemos. Honestly after first two chemos didn't think I could do but cutting dose made so I could handle. I live alone (3 dogs), widow. Daughter drove me to chemo treatment, live an hour from Nashville. And she grocery shopped, etc. You will be given steroids before chemo, hopped me up, made me feel great short term and Benedryl. Due to distance they required me to have driver. Day after chemo a shot of Neulasta to help white blood cells, lot of people feel it causes more body pain but you need those white cells. Now if this old lady can do this you can. I was so stunned by diagnosis I needed daughter with me to absorb everything. I had no symptoms except weight loss. Found when I had surgery for blocked Iliac Artery. You just let us know what you need. This site is great for information and also if you just need a pep talk. Judy
