I am 55 and had the robotic surgery a year ago, so our experience is similar....check out my journey for details, but I will summarize....knowledge is power....seek and learn as much as you can, but dont let it scare you too much....you will see a million stories out here...good and bad...when ready, you will meet it head on...I chose the surgery because my cancer was rampant and I didnt have a choice....a year later, I have completed radiation for the cancer that had escaped and my first PSA test was neglible!...so far so good...ATTITUDE and HUMOR was very important to me.....good luck...reach out if you would like more info

    Hi!

I missed any mention of Gleason Scores. Did you get that result? (Basically, it's a compound number, with higher values indicating a more serious situation.)

I had "robotic" surgery for the complete removal. 1 year on my urinary control is 99%, but I can only get a partial erection, even with cialis/viagra.

OTOH, I'm feeling much better - more active, not napping all the time.

Remember, we're all in this together.

quijote: Your PC journey is starting much younger than mine, but I hope you have a good outcome. My journey started 3 yrs ago when I was 69. Now after surgery, radication and ongoing hormone therapy, my PSA is <.08. I am thankful for where I am.I feel healthy, exercise, play singles tennis and enjoy life (exception is ed which is ongoing because of hormones. If its of any help you can find my story and others of support here.
Best wishes as you make your decisions. A survivor, Ross
