I saw you had a sarcoma. I have been diagnosed with a spindle cell sarcoma in my left breast. They've done 2 surgeries and I've been having other tests done. Now they have found a lesion on my thyroid. Waiting for results from sonagram on Friday. Prayers for you! Cathy

    Hello packerbacker,
I was diagnosed with sarcoma last October. When I was completely finished with all treatments, I finally asked my oncologist (after my clear PET scan) exactly what type of sarcoma I had. He told me perineurial. I have not found anything online using that particular word until I read your posts using the word 'peripheral' and wonder if they are similar. I had a large tumor inside my left thigh--no sign of disease in lymph nodes/glands, bone, or muscle. I personally think this tumor had been growing for a number of years and was told by my radiologist that as it grew the inside died off. It was considered stage 2, grade 2 when I finally had it biopsied.

I was given adriamycin and ifosfamide chemo drugs as a precaution--my tests all came out clean before I started chemo treatments. I wanted to kill anything that still may be hiding and that was the explanation my doctors had given me. I had very few side affects and my doctor is still amazed at how well I took the 'harsher than normal' regimen of chemo. I was (and still am) drinking Essiac tea daily. My husband and I feel that is what kept me from getting so sick during treatments.

My best to you in your treatments.
    Stacy

Glad to see your coming out of the funky cloud. I know how that is, it's easy to let yourself get down. One of the hardest things in this fight is to keep your mind positive.

All I can offer is my own experience through 3 x fighting. I always reminded myself of a favorite quote of mine that says, "Tough Times Never Last, Tough People Do". Every time I got down, I just told myself, this won't last too long, I can take ANYTHING for a certain amount of time.

I hope you find a way to keep your spirits high. Please stay in touch often here. As you know, there are lots of great, concerned people here that want to help in any way.

    Wish you the best!

Thank you for your response to my posted question! I really appreciate you taking the time to do so.
We have a very big family, and all are very willing to help, however I find myself wanting to handle it primarily on my own. I've experienced a rather interesting role reversal in that I sometimes feel that I am the only one who can take care of her.
Prayer helps both my mother and I a lot. We are praying all the time, or as my mom says, "just chatting with God."
Again, I thank you for your advice and suggestions. I will praying for you:)

I've been talking with my pain management Dr, for like 2.5 years now. I'm not certain whether he's not listening, doesn't understand, or if he has reached the point that he just doesn't care any more. I have to admit, I'm not very good at discussing my pain issues with anyone, much less a Dr. I hate to be a complainer and I've found that talking about the pain I endure does not make me feel any better. I've not discussed my pre-cancer pain with my oncologist yet. I've not met my radiation Dr or my chemo Dr as of yet, but have my first appointment with them on Oct 2 and 3. Which is why I've turned my attention to the Internet to try to get an idea of just what I getting myself in for. Thus far I've come up with about 2 pages of questions that i'd like to have answered before we begin this trek. Thank you ever so much for your input, as I feel I'm going to need all the help I can get on this subject.

    Dear packerbacker:
Thanx so much for the response to my question. I've just begun this epic journey, so no, I have not yet discussed this with my oncologist. I have yet to learn how advanced the cancer is, how much treatment will be involved, what it's going to do to me or how to survive the treatments. I have new and different types of pain now in a different part of me from this cancer as I've been dealing with severe pain from spinal cord injury for many years. I had thought about discussing this problem with my cancer treatment team. I'm just not certain which Dr to talk to about it as every Dr seems to treat only one specific area of medicine.
