Hi Mabel,
Recently, my wife and I participated in an Understanding Pancreatic Cancer Educational Seminar in MN sponsored the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network that included a presentation on the "Genetics of Pancreatic Cancer". We hope that you will find this presentation to be informative. Also, comforting knowing that a lot of folks are currently researching this topic.

Hello Mabel, Good luck with your difficult decision. Perhaps, my 65 year old wife's story will help. She was diagnosed with Stage IV pancreatic cancer in early September. Prior to this diagnosis, she had no other significant health issues and was in very good health. Given multiple options, she decided to begin an aggressive FOLFIRINOX treatment regimen (every 2 weeks) in early October. After 3 rounds of treatment, she's experienced some of the commonly publicized chemo side-effects, but nothing that has significantly impacted her quality of life. We'll looking forward to the completion of her 4th treatment this week and a new CT/PET scan in early January to evaluate the status of her cancer. Her oncologist's goal for the treatment regimen is to slow and/or temporarily halt the growth of the pancreatic cancer. Her (our) goal is to extend her life as long as possible while maintaining a reasonably tolerable quality of life. We're only 4-months into this challenge, so you're welcome to follow our journey. Hi mabel. I'm glad you found whatnext.com but sorry for your reasons for being here. If I can point to any information that I've come across, let me know. The resource I gave is in the U.S. I did not notice that your profile says you're in Canada. Is the person with cancer up there too? I don't know whether Pancan.org maintains a database of doctors for Canada. I'm sure there must be other information resources up there. Maybe they can point you towards those anyway if you need information specific to Canada.0December 2013

There are also subtypes listed on this page to narrow down the type of cancer to match your dx.
Also, if you can take a few minutes and fill in some details of your journey so far, it will help others as they try to answer questions for you, it also helps others as they search through the data base to find someone like themselves. Confirming your email will allow you to receive updates and notices from the site when someone answers your questions or writes on your wall.
