Hi girlstrong - We corresponded a few weeks ago, as my mom is getting treatment in Htfd, CT. She had her first round at hospital on Monday (with 5FU pump at home for Tuesday & Wednesday). Now it's Tuesday and she's having a lot of stomach/back pain. Pain meds make her so dizzy she can't do much. What did you do for pain management? Thank you so much.

Thanks for your note, good to hear from you. Was diagnosed on Jan 28, and then had my gastrectomy on Feb 22. Recovery has been good. Will have a port installed this week and will be starting chemo in the next week or two. I've had excellent care and am optimistic about the future. Good luck and stay in touch.

Have not participated in a long time...my husband started his chemo after 2nd treatment he developed severe diarrhea and had to be hospitalized and from there go to rehab facility to gain back his strength before surgery. He was hospitalized for 6 wks. Had surgery 12 days ago... But developed an abscess and is back in the hospital having it drained. Surgeon said all visible cancer removed... But he had 6 or 7 nodes with cancer... I asked is that a good or bad outcome if 30 nodes were taken... Answer was medium. Once healed from survey chemo treatments again... I am so stressed everything I read or what the docs say is 5 yrs or less.... Any one have anything to share?

hello girlstrong hope you are well, I started chemo again as was planned after surgery and with my whole stomach removed chemo has been very difficult. I was wondering if you would mind sharing those details of the diet you were on?

girlstrong, your story gives me hope for my brother who has a very large bleeding tumor in his stomach and a rare form of stomach cancer. How long did it take you to recover from the gastrectomy?
