Your answer about the Rituxan was helpful. When I was having the allergic rxn, my oncologist came in and said, "hmm, you must be allergic to the MOUSE antibodies in it! Hello? Nobody ever told me it was made with mouse antibodies. I couldn't believe it. So, next she put me on Azerra, which is another monoclonal antibody made with only HUMAN antibodies. No reaction. That stuff is poison. And from what I understand, they now have a newer version of Rituxan made with less mouse antibodies. Still. No thank you. I only had one dose of it before I got the reaction so I don't know if that was enough to cause all of this joint pain, and it's been two years now since I had it. The joint pain started about 17 months after I was done with chemo. I question arthritis, but no swelling or joint deformity that you would typically see with arthritis, and I doubt that I would have pain in ALL of my joints. It is just so weird, and nobody can tell me what the trouble is. My new oncologist at the Cleveland Clinic did mention something about something called monoclonal proteins, which is interesting. I do occasionally have numbness and tingling of the hands too. Thanks for your answer. My dad also sent me something on cherries for reduction of pain.

Yeah, rubbing alcohol on the back, back of the neck is really good.too. My son picked up his girlfriend's kid from school. He was 11 and was a 102 F. She had a doctor and doctors that said rubbing alcohol was bad for some stupid reason. I came home from school, saw Caleb moaning and water oozing from him. I took his temp and used alcohol. The 3rd rub seemed to greatly reduce his fever and kept it down. The timing was perfect with the antibiotic. My son said-- Oh Caleb is OK. Mom rubbed him down with alcohol and the fever seems to have broke. She even threatened to call child services on me. I apologized. That child just seemed prone to high fevers, and he suffered so.
About 3 years later she apologized to me, because medical science went back to real medicine-instead of what I call FAD MED. I wonder how many of these kids have brain and liver damage from the high fever and ineffective meds.

Just because a person has not followed the dietary ideas that you, particularly, prescribe, it does not follow that they "have not tried to use food as medicine."
Oncologists have years of training on what causes cancer and how to treat it and prevent it. That is how they earned the right to come board certified oncologists. You do not.

Hi, I tried MJ candy last night-5 mg of THC per hard candy or lozenge. It was 'Indica butane' meaning that butane was used in processing the Indica. It tasted like sweet hemp with that slightly woody taste. I guess I'll see if it helps my stomach any.

Hi, ever hear of Gorilla Glue? That's a popular strain of MJ in the medical MJ shops here. Levi has it in powder form that he smokes. He's hoping that I'll start toking.

Pouting is defined as a fit of sullenness or petulant annoyance. I hardly think being sad because I face death by cancer and share that with my "friends" on this site qualifies.

Your manner is very calming - Thank you for your concern and ideas. I am VERY grateful my cancer is hopefully the least of my concerns. Sooooo fortunate and glad I chose this path and no chemo or radiation - would have lost the eye in the end anyway and did not have to deal with the chemicals and sickness of that part.

Right now I'm trying to "get ready" for the blindness and yes, my state has already stepped in with my doctor's diagnosis and is setting up a state funded reading machine and access to a free library, braille instruction and free materials and many other free services as this progresses.

Yeah - and during surgery got a broken front tooth that required a root canal 1 month later(no dental ins of course Thank goodness my dentist is only a 2 hr drive and still gives gas and takes credit cards from us old hippies.

My only real question is can I continue to live where I am? 3 dogs, 3 new kittens, an acre with 2 houses and 1.5 hrs to my PCP with a 1 hr airplane ride to my eye doctors and a 4 hr airplane ride to my oncologist. My home is in paradise and this place makes me feel good.

Thanks for listening - your journey has obviously taught you much and I'm already glad I decided to do this today. You've had to be much braver than I will have to be.

Hi, I don't know why I went to Cas posts, she always upsets me.. Helps that she reached out and actually called me stupid, ignorant. Another time she called me uneducated. She believes in science and anybody that has an out-dated tribal belief system is delusional- she quotes Marx. I'm probably wrong, but I doubt that she's had anything much beyond HS general science or biology.
Either you or Barry pointed out that she was all over the place. I was pulled in because her reference was head cancer patients.

She reminds me of some philosophy and English profs that I had. One said the Bronze Age started when Bronze Mines were discovered. Me, I raised my hand and told her that in the 4th grade, I learned that copper and tin make bronze. I got out of that class and department that day. I changed to History. People have different opinions on why something happened, which is fair, but very few deny that WW ll happened.

Then some believe that Einstein proved that gravity doesn't exist. I told them that apples still fall, and our solar system is stable. For centuries, these certain planets have been circling the sun, no matter what humans think. That's gravity- No gravity- and the planets would be meandering through space like lost sheep.

Levi was having trouble last night, and he finally asked if I could help him. I was delighted that I could with minium of fuss and time. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to help him. I think that he was just tired from doing so much, and everything was looking wrong, which causes self-doubt-and he missed a step.

Updat - I brlieve the doctor was referring to the Whipple surgery which seems to be the only choice so far - you lose around 50 lbs with it as they take everythibg out and just attach your stomach with the valve removed with part of the stomach to your small intestine and you get stomach dumping. Some fare better than others after but I have seen a majority of horrer stories, Scarey no matter what you do I guess. I am on a desperate quest to find a doctor that could operate and take it out without doing the whole Whipple thing. If I lost 50 lbs I would be around 60 lbs or less.

Geekling, does your phone have a calender? Mine is a little crazy, and works different ways at times. I have a Sony-but this is a common thing to do. If you don't see calendar on your screen-go to home. You see the little box of dots? touch those, and it opens built in Apps. You see a calender. Press down on the calender and slide it to the house at the botton for home. Then it will be on your home page. Maybe calender is already on your home page. It has a big date 31 and says calender. You can open it and tell me what it says. If it just has today's date, press the upper right hand corner, and a drop box on the left opens up. It says year, month, week, day, agenda.

You press down to open. Mine opens to my agenda for the month, or it might open to the month. . scroll to the month-like yesterday I scrolled to March 2016. There are several ways to do it. Click on the date Look for a plus sign click that then tou enter the information. You get a page of who- where, time, do you want an alarm, list anybody going with you. I do the time first, as that seems to be the hardest to do. You see the hours and you take your thumb or stylus, and roll it to the hour you want. Then you do the minutes you want. Then you AM or PM. Click done. I do the time first, as that seems the trickiest. when done -hit set. then who and where--The top says event- fill in name or what-- like scan-then name of lab, maybe who you are going with. Then push done.

Another way is the upper left corner says calender, date, agenda. it has a teeny tiny arrow triangle. touch the triangle fo aganda. It opens anything you have anf has a big plus sign. You press the plus sign- and it opens with the page to the device calender-where you enter the appt-event, then down to the time and date. Mine says Dec 1, but I just press on the time and put in in the new date. If you scroll down after you enter event- time-location you can have a reminder set. You can do it from minutes to hours. It also has a second alarm.

Seriously we can do this one step at a time--first find your calender app and set the app on your home page by pressing and pulling down to the house on the bottom of you page. then press home and you will see it on your home page. My homepage is 3 wide. Scrolling tip-- wet the end of you finger tip, press and slide finger to where you want.

Contact me, if you want help after opening the calender app on your home page. Do you have FB? If you do, we can chat on that and work through. It just takes some playing around sometimes. It was lots easier for me after I learned how to do everything on the agenda-which gives you a listing----I even schedule calls to the lab to make sure the doctor sent it in, and whats. in the labs.

geekl;ing, you politely brought up some good points. Like I didn't know that ice cream has vitamin B in it.

Some people are naturally high in potassium. That's one reason why I have trouble with dehydration. Strawberries, bananas make me ill, because they are so high in potassium. Basically I puke them up, if I don't puke, I faint and stufff, have mild seizures. GYNs recommend high potasium foods. I explained what I was going through, and they changed my vitamins to not have potassium.

Another thing is that people with diverticulus get berry seeds stuck in the pockets, and these people are told not to eat berries, or even berry jams. Even a blueberry skin fragment can get into a pocket.

Mr Carlson, the next door neighbor, started having a stomach ache, then fever and severe cramps. My father thought that Mr. Carlson had appendicitis and rushed him to the hospital. They had to do surgery, pick out raspberry seeds, and they hospitalized him for almost a week. It was at the point where sepsis was starting. If he hadn't gone in, he would have died.

That's one thing that eating like you and Barry do that helps. Most vegetarians have very few diverticulae. This is one thing that drives the GIs nuts. They think that I grew up and live as a vegan, because I have 3 very small diverticulae. I tell them beef and more beef. Their eyes just bug out and they say, "but, but, but"

Thank you geekling. Life has been difficult for me. The journey has been wickedly difficult as well, not just for me but for so many others. I know I can come off hard, but I have a great passion for compassion toward others. It is a fight for life and I am a fighter. I know your story and I hear your pain. Know that I pray for you everyday. You do what ever out takes to get through the day.

SO THOSE ARE THE LINKs TO THE SURVEY...i am so sorry but the free website set a limit of 18 questions so i had to generate two different links. They are around 26 questions and I hope my English is sufficiently understandable. Anyway if you notice some mistakes or you have any kind of advice just let me know:) So I've created two different surveys:

    - this is for the caregivers who HAVE NOT HAD the need to move from their hometown in order to take care of someone

    LINK 1: http://freeonlinesurveys.com/s/FFQRuYEQ

    LINK 2; http://freeonlinesurveys.com/s/azK9Lqv1

THANK YOU SO MUCH:) The survey it's completely anonimous. If you want to know the progress of my work let's keep in touch: agnese.cunsolo1989@hotmail.it

PLEASE SHARE THIS SURVEY TO THE OTHER CAREGIVERS:)

Hi, your post below is pretty good. It causes people to think while being neutral. What caught the Navy up for spraying San Francisco is that the Bay had Navy bases, a huge hospital on Mare Island, and officers; housing-besides the enlisted-along with "NAVY SHIPS' Wrong place to spray. I can't prove it, but I was later on the beach- at LA's South Bay-no military anything. My bro and I were watching a ship go slowly along the bay, emitting something--like a mist- in about 2 weeks, both of our necks were swelled up bigger than our heads. Only people on the beach, working on the beach and living there got really sick. Anybody, even ahalf of a mile inland didn't get sick. They caught something with our initial coughing, but my classmate were feverish only for a day or 2- KTLA reported that surfers had some strange malady, and people stayed away from the beach. I am so much against some of this stuff. I had a Jewish doctor when I was a child. Before I was 10, I was asking him how he could use medicine created from torture. These people don't realize that sometimes it takes years or even the next generation for side effects to show up. In the early 60s, OBs had a med for nausea. It was almost a 100% for the females of these pregnancies to get female cancers- They had to have hysterectomies at the age of 5-most had it when they started menses. Many died. I'll shut up now.

Hi geekling. Good to hear from you. How are things going with you. I had a PSA last month one year out of radiation and it was still undetectable for which I am thankful. Had a CT scan at the same time and RCC in right kidney is gone. Left kidney is still questionable. Has a 2.2 cm mass that they can't decide if it is RCC or a cyst.We are watching it now. May have a biopsy in Feb 2016. Most important, I have survived so far. I have some fallout from the radiation, but nothing I can't handle. I think I may start glowing green from all the radiation and CTs. LOL
I hope everything goes well for you. Long life and much happiness. Jim
