I too was recently diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer (2 months ago) and only know to well the feelings of fear and just not knowing about anything. I have been undergoing treatment since mid July and am happy to report that my tumor marker numbers are coming down. I have a pet scan scheduled for 9/11 so hopefully that will give me some more good things to think about. I wish you nothing but the best.

Yes, I do feel alone in my rural community. At the hosp where I have treatment I asked to be put in touch with someone in my situation. First they said there might be a woman, then no news. This website is very helpful to me.

Carter4, I have just recently starting getting very sad and emotional. Not sure if it's the reality of my condition or the induced menopause or both!!! Thanks for the suggestion of Effexor. I'll see how it goes. My care team is trying hormone therapy now. I'm hoping they will find I'm HER2 positive so I can add that to my arsenals. Do you know anyone with lung mets on What next? It's good to know of others that are doing well. I'm glad your treatment is working great and thanks for the support.

I haven't had Lupron. Is it for pain, a form of chemo or a bone strenthener? I have an Aridia infusion once a month for my bones. My doctor gave me Neurontin for my hot flashes and it really seems to help. Before Neurontin, I had hot flashes no sweats that lasted eight hours. I had a small lump in my breast but Taxol got rid of it. You have been lucky to escape chemo. Take care..........

Are you still on Tamoxifen? How long have you been taking it? I have been on it one month only. Was on Femara but numbers kept going up so we went to Tamoxifen.

    Dear Carter4,

Thanks for replying to my query re my Stage I BC and only needing Tamoxifen. I know if must be very difficult to be in your situation and you have my sympathy and kind wishes. I'm a Librarian (retired) as well as Medical Librarian, so I often give people on the site ideas to distract themselves. Not knowing if you're in any discomfort, but if you enjoy a good read, there's an online bookgroup called goodreads.com. They offer you the opp to write reviews, get titles in different genres and read reviews others have written.

If you ever feel llike chatting about books or anything else - please let me know,

Hi carter4 - glad you joined us here. You may like to know that there are people who have used the power of their minds to reverse stage 4 cancer. I'm not saying it's an absolute, but it is a possibility and you should be aware of that. Make sure to do everything you can in the realm of conventional medicine, but also be aware that you have within you unlimited healing capacity. Here's an article from my website that might assist you: http://marnieclark.com/metastasis-turmoil-help-on-dealing-with-it/ Sending hugs from Denver to Spartanburg.
