Hello, so sorry to learn of your recent diagnosis...the early days and weeks are the toughest until you have a plan of action in place and feel as though you are doing something (surgery, chemo, radiation, hormonal treatment, whatever!)...try to bring someone to your appointments as there is soooo much info given...get a binder type of notebook to keep track of all the phone numbers, pamphlets, info sheets, etc. you will be given...make lists of questions and jot down the answers to keep in your binder and refer back to...we are here to help you on your journey, to answer questions, help with your concerns, offer support...just let us know what you need...visit the site often and keep us updated...good luck and God bless!0September 2013

Hi, I too went through this, but after the biopsy the DCIS went to stage 1 instead of stage 0, I think they messed it up. But it was caught early and I didn't need chemo or radiation. You won't know if you are HER2 positive or neg. until the pathology reports come back or if any lymph nodes were affected. I pray not so you will have an easier time of it. I had a double masectomy because of family history, tissue expanders right now, hope to have surgery to replace those and be close to done, began all this last Sept! It's a different road, but it is one you can follow. Keep family and friends close, make new friends and always ask the nurses, they know tons! Lynn0September 2013

Is your DCIS localized or infiltrating. Mine was localized. I hope yours is too and that you don't have to go through any type of treatment. Anyway, welcome to the site. I think that you will find this a friendly place to come when you need to sound off or vent from anger. We are all here to listen and help, if we can, because at some point and time in each of our lives we have been in your situation. Please don't be afraid to ask questions either. No question on this site is silly or dumb. We all have questions we would like other opinions on or answers to. There are so many nice people here that it has helped me get through my fears I had when I was DX'd with DCIS. Good luck in the future.0September 2013

Sorry you've joined this club...but welcome to this helpful site. Please bring your questions and concerns here, and we will help each other through the bad times. I am hoping your cancer was found early and you have good people around to help you. When I was diagnosed nearly two years ago, I was so frightened and expected the worst. Today I am feeling good and looking forward to tomorrow instead of fearing it. You can do this! God bless you moving forward.0September 2013

I am so sorry of your diagnosis. Just keep thinking it was caught very early on, stage 0. I too have had a mastectomy and reconstruction done and still healing but lymph nodes biopsies were negative. I wish you well and know you are not alone in this journey.

I am sorry for your diagnosis. What's next sends emails listing new people who sign up. I thought I'd contact you because you don't live far from me & we are similar ages. When I was first diagnosed I had trouble finding women around my age who had been thru this. Feel free to contact me if you have questions. I went through Edward hospital for all my care - surgery & chemo. Good luck to you.
