Hi lucky1571, I just read an article about a woman here in NJ was experiencing excruciating pain every time she ate. They discovered that she had pancreatitis. After not eating food for a year, having to rely on a feeding tube and getting down to 81 pounds she said she got her life back from an operation to make her liver function as a pancreas. The operation was performed in January this year at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview in Minneapolis. She lived there for a few months. It doesn't say how she made the connection from here in NJ and the University of Minnesota. Her pancreas was removed, and tiny islet cells were transplanted from her pancreas into her liver, allowing it to function as a pancreas, and produce insulin. She had auto immune problems since childhood, and later developed chronic pancreatitis about 2 years ago. She could not eat without excruciating pain. The operation turned her into a diabetic. She takes supplemental insulin. She also takes digestive enzymes. She has been back home in NJ for about one month, and is not limited to what she can eat. She said food never tasted so good. The downside is that she has to raise money to help pay for her medical bills that are not covered by her insurance...she is 28, and today averages right around 110 pounds. While this is an amazing story, I just don't know if it would do you any good. I sure hope so in some fashion. I do know this...our liver is an amazing organ. My best to you, and I pray for your comfort.
